The next morning, I see the red-eyed whites and black crescent moons adorning the beautiful eyes of Darshan. I was one of the early-comers, like always. I watched him go out of the class, and come back in, nearly ten minutes.
His eyes looked somewhat, proper now. Where did he go? To apply concealers?
Across the room, his brown eyes molted in mine and I hate to admit that we were the only ones in the class. The others have either not come or have went out of the class for their volunteering activities of taking care of lower class children. While most were at it, Darshan didn't get to do it because wherever he went, a swarm of girls followed him. I never got them because I wasn't interested in taking care of children. It's not like I am going to have them anytime soon.
Although the girls most probably ruined his plans and works, he never went mad. If anything, he was utterly nice to them.He smiled a little and walked towards me.
I was unaware of the fact that Deepa had already come into the class and had kept her bag behind my bench. My focus was on him and the way he walked. If anyone knew the subtle art of walking. Even if he didn't do it on purpose, his moves looked embellished.
"Hi", he smiled a bit wider, his cheek muscles bulging out in a mass.
"Hey", I tried returning the smile.
"Thanks for last night, though", he rubbed the back of his neck.
"It's okay. You are welcome. Honestly, you have been thanking me all night till I went home. ", I tried to sound interested into the conversation so that he wouldn't feel awkward. He is nice to everyone, so maybe I could be so to him.
"Well, if you are free, can you come tonight too?", he asked raising a brow.
"I hope you haven't lost your mind. Your aunt is coming over today, right?", I asked, answering his question.
He laughed a little more. He smiled a little wider.
"No. She is not coming. Because she is stuck in her sister's house. The next she will be coming will be now after a week or so, I guess. ", he said running a hand through his hair.
"But, mom said -", I am cut off in middle.
"That's just because, we don't want to worry anyone", he replied with a lopsided smile, lowering his voice.
Students had started coming in back from their duties.
"We?", I ask, raising my brows.
"Dad and I", he said jumping onto my bench.
"Ohh... But I will have to ask my mom then", I shrugged and his face fell. He frowned at the statement as realization washed over his features.
"It's okay. I will get someone else", he said jumping down my table.
What does he mean by 'I will get someone else'.
I am not one of his fan girl or something. This fact irked me off and I hear a whistle from my side.
"So, what exactly happened 'LAST NIGHT' ?", I hear Deepa ask me twirling her forefinger around her long caramel brown hair.
"Nothing that your mind is thinking", I answer because I don't want to break the promise I made him. And, I could possibly not lie to my friends.
I was the only one who knew about his condition. I can't break anyone's trust.
"Well, I am not thinking anything, but you are forcing me to", she answered back.
"Did I ever care about what goes on in your filthy mind?", I revert back sitting on my bench.
Sitting beside me, she huffs.
