“Wish I knew just how to fly”

I stride across the corridor to find Darshan doing the chores somewhere. But, I don't find him anywhere.
Although it aches a little to think that he went home without me, he has his own things to take care of.
It was a half day, so he might as well be busy in his cricket classes.
My shoulders sagged down and I let out a sigh as I grabbed on the loop of my bag a bit harder and make my way to the exit.
The corridors are quite as most of the students have left already.
After the encounter with Ananya, my mind wouldn't stop creating scenarios.
What if... He tried to do something stupid?
I mentally smack myself in the head.
Darshan is not that guy.
He is sad? Yes. He feels responsible for everything? Yes. He feels insecure? Yes.
But, killing himself is too far a subject to score.
While walking across the halls, my eyes fall on one of the dark classrooms.
It has already been evacuated.
He was leaning onto the life-sized window, looking outside. He seemed to be thinking something. A blank facade on his face.
“Darshan!”, I called out for him.
He averted his gaze and looked at me.
I loved the way the sun rays gently fell partially onto his face... Highlighting his features. The wind would sweep away the hairs falling on his face and it looked magical.
“Hi”, he pulled on a smile almost immediately.
I don't know if it was my overthinking... But he seemed weird.
All through the day, he had been smiling and laughing...not caring about the self consciousness he admitted to have.
“You didn't go home?”, he asked.
“I was looking for you”, I admitted standing beside him.
“So, what were you thinking?”, I asked him, leaning onto the window.
“Nothing special”, he shrugged, pulling on his charismatic smile.
“Really?”, I asked a bit worried.
“Yeah. I was just thinking if I jumped down this window... Would I be able to fly?”, he said looking out, avoiding my eyes.
He is definitely behaving weird.
My breath is caught in my throat and I don't know what to do.
“No, you wouldn't”, I almost choke out.
He takes a glance at me and then laughs.
