I would not have everything in life,
But as much as I would have,
I would love.

I snuggle to my pillow a little more to get a bit more of sleep after snoozing my alarm for more than five times and then finally throwing it to the ground.

But, sleep? After 9? It's a crime.

I hear the door creek open for a second and then, a splash of water comes down on me. I squeak and gasp for air as my eyes open wide to take in everything.

“Why can't you kids get up on time? In this house I have to do everything!”, mom ranted and I whined while I fell back on the bed.

Wait a second. There is something missing. Darshan!

“Mom, where's Darshan?”, I asked her when she was at the door.

Oh no no no no no.... I know this face. Mummy is smirking... It's going to be a hard day.

“Darshan? Unlike the two nalayaks I have given birth to, he woke up pretty early and helped me make the breakfast. And you! You don't even know how to make a roti. You would either burn the kitchen or burn yourself. But he? Mind you, he even made your lunches. That boy is thousand times better than you girl... ”, and so...she went. I seriously thought I fell asleep again because next time the door creeked, I saw Darshan coming in.

I sighed out and pushed the comforter away.

“So, you went on to become the best man out there by making our lunch?”, I asked getting into the washroom to brush my teeth.

“I am so sorry... I just wanted to help her. I didn't know she would go and beat up your brother's and your's ass”, he said jumping to sit on the counter.

“Well, it's Saturday, so it's a half day, right?”, I asked him.

“Yup”, he said popping the 'p' and playing with the toothpaste.

“You are going to clean the class after school today instead of me”, I said wiping my face.

“Done”, he said smiling.

He is such a kid!

I ruffled his hair and he went to tickle me.

I thought I had lost the kid who was brought up with me. But, he was there...somewhere it was buried, but he was there.

“So, what's the news with your half brother and half sister?”, I asked.

I didn't want to spoil my mood, right now... But, I wanted to know.

His smile faded and he dropped the toothpaste. There, I knew, I had touched a very sensitive and forbidden subject.

He gulped in, as his Adam's apple bobbed up and down.

“They...they are both nice. The best that dad deserves as a child.”, he said with a faint sad smile.

“Hey, you are his own son and even you are the best at everything you do. And, I am sure you are keeping his neck high because you nail everything you do”, I tried to console him.
