Bambam's POV
He expected her to find some mess in his room. Something she'd probably nag him about. But not this. He didn't want this kind of mess. Especially after she made it a point to remind him earlier that she didn't want anything to change between them. For them to be friends. Forever.
"Uhm what's this?" Lisa asked. Holding a velvet box.
Maybe I'll just tell her what I told Jackson hyung, he thought. It was a good enough reason and him knowing Lisa, she'd probably believe it.
"Earth to Bambam?" Lisa tried to get his attention, obviously confused by the invisible panic going on in Bambam's head that rendered him speechless.
"I-it's not-" he tried to say but was cut off by the sudden swing of his door.
"Phi Bam, I think you need to restock your toilet pa-" Baby said but her eyes was redirected from him. "Woah! What's that? It's so pretty." She went towards Lisa, already looking at the pendant that said 'Lalice' closely. "Where'd you get it from?"
He was trying not to look and had half a mind to run away inconspicuously while the girls were chatting amongst themselves. But the thought quickly diminished when Lisa looked back at him with a raised brow, prompting him to continue his explanation.
His already wide eyes grew bigger when Baby followed Lisa's gaze. "Really? Why don't I have one Phi Bam?"
"I-I...well," Bambam's stuttering seemed to have triggered something in Baby's head because her annoyed expression started changing and a smile appeared on her face. She was about to open her mouth when a call broke the uncomfortable silence in the room.
"Mom?" Baby answered and started to walk out the room but not without giving a knowing side glance at her older brother.
After she left, Bambam cleared his throat as he, once again, looks at the confused Lisa. Now that his original excuse has been thrown out the window he said, "T-that was supposed to be my birthday gift. F-for you." He tried to keep his stuttering at bay, but to no avail. He was just hoping that she didn't notice.
"My...my birthday?" Her furrowed brows went closer to each other. "Huh? But that's...not till a few months."
Right... "Well...y-you know how busy we are. I might forget to buy you a gift once, you know. Uhm...when your birthday actually arrives." He covered his panicked face with a smile pulling a pretense of confidence from deep within. "So I prepared beforehand."
"A birthday gift," she whispered, her lips finally turned upward.
"Yeah..." a birthday gift. He sighed and smiled bitterly after realizing all the meaning that the gift once had was being buried 6 feet under.
"Thank you, Bam!" She suddenly hugged him, the box clenched tightly in her hand. "I hate to admit it but that's so sweet of you!"
But if I get to hug you and be with you like this, then I guess it's good enough.
She pulled a way and looked him in the eyes. He gulped as her joyful smile turned into a playful grin. "It could also be an advance congratulatory gift when I win the next challenge."
He pushed her away, then. The moment was gone and all the nervousness and bitterness he felt a few seconds ago have dissipated. "Dream on, Manoban. If that is to be a congratulatory gift, then I'd just have to take it back. We both know who'll win here." He extended his arm to take back the box.
"Hey no way! It's mine."
He laughed at her childish pout and shifted his hand to simply rub her head, creating a nest of a hair on her, to which she grunted in annoyance.
Lisa's POV
Lisa was scrolling through her phone, remembering the events of the other day especially with the episode of their win already being out. After they got back to the restaurant with Baby in tow, the loudness and chaos of the two groups resulted in an enjoyable day filled with laughter. It truly was a celebration, she thought while absentmindedly rubbing the pendant of her necklace.
No one in their table saw the new accessory on her as it was hidden underneath her large sweater. And even when her members saw the foreign item on her afterwards, she just said it was from Baby to avoid any more unwanted teasings.
She smiled as she looked down at it. She was planning on shooting a quick 'thank you again' to her best friend when she saw a message from a familiar name.
Ten: hey! Congrats on your win! 🎉
You guys did so well, I'm impressed!
