1.5 it finally happpned

Sorry this is late, my cousin is a dumbass and got in a car accident.

It all happened so fast. It was 2 days after I had seen Lauren that I had gotten a call from the social worker.

"Hello, is this Chelsea Stern?"

"Yes this is she."

"Hello, this is Karen from social services and I have your sister Lauren here at your mothers house, miss Stern your mother has been arrested."

"What? On what charges?" I asked trying to sound as shocked as possible. I wasn't, I knew this was going to happen sooner or later.

"Child negligence and illegal drugs in the house, but that's beside the point. I asked your sister who she wanted to stay with while we got this whole thing sorted out and she said you. So would you be willing to take her?"

"Yes of course. I'll be there in a few minutes." I said as she hung up the phone.

I looked over to Michael who was still asleep on the bed next to me. I didn't bother to wake him as I got dressed and walked out the door and drove to my mothers house.

"Hello, I'm Karen." I was greeted by a tall short haired blond. She put out her hand for me to shake and I returned the gesture. "Let's sit and talk." She said walking in. I nodded and followed her. I saw Lauren sleeping on the couch as I walked to the kitchen with Karen.

"So first I need to find where Lauren is staying." She said pulling out paperwork and her pen. I told her the address of the hotel.

"You're staying in a hotel?"

"Yes, my mother kicked me out the other day, I was staying with a friend until my boyfriend came down."

"Oh so the boyfriend stays with you? where is he from?"

"Ya, he's from Australia."

"Oh, what's his name?"

"Michael Clifford-" she turned her head to me and gave me a strange look.

"You mean from 5 Seconds Of Summer?"

"Yup, that's him." I smiled as she nodded. "My niece loves them." I smiled at her and nodded my head.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Anything." She said turning her full attention to me.

"How long do you think my mother will be in jail?"

"Honestly it depends on if a court finds her guilty. But if they do with the charges your looking up to 10 years." I nodded my head.

"So what will happen to Lauren?"

"Well in cases like these we usually give the children to the other parent, but since your father was stripped of his legal rights as Lauren's guardian, it's going to be harder. Why?"

"Well I'm 18 and I live a steady life, would I be able to get custody of her?"

"I mean I wouldn't see why not, you would just need the approval of the court and in her case, it would move fast due to the issue with your father."

"Really?"

"Yes, but you will still have to find out about your mother."

I thanked the women for her time and help as she left. I walked over to the couch and sat down next to Lauren and woke her up. "Come on let's go." I said getting her up and grabbing her bag and walking out of the door.

When I got back to the hotel Michael was awake and watching tv. "There you are, where have you been?" He asked standing up and hugging me. I moved to the side a bit to reveal Lauren was with me. He looked at her then me then back to her and smiled. She ran to him and hugged him tightly.
