It was just past lunch time in America and the children were put to bed for their afternoon nap. The sun peaked through the clouds on this windy day and with it's harsh blows came the soft sobs of the girls mother down the hallway. The noise was barely audible but she was a light sleeper and so the h/c haired girl crawled out of bed.

She heard someones sniffling mixed with their quiet yet fast footsteps around the house. As she made her way through the hallway she saw the wall phone hanging out of its receiver and dangling just above the ground. Whoever had been on the other end had hung up.

The girl made her way through the living room only to see her mother frantically scrambling around the house. She only wore one shoe as she hastily threw on a coat. "M-Mommy... what's wrong?" The child slurred, rubbing her eye. The women quickly turned to face her, relief washing over her features even though her cheeks were still stained with tears.

"Y/n sweetie, go wake up your brother, I just got a call from one of your fathers colleagues and we need to go see him," she rushed, finding her other shoe and snatching her keys off the kitchen counter. "Why do we need to see daddy?" The girl asked, clumsily putting on her shoes.

Some of her mother's dark blue hair fell out of its messy bun as the women kneeled down to her level, "he just got a little boo boo from work, I'm sure it's nothing we're just going to make sure he's alright, okay?" Despite the tears her mother smiled at her, she was practically shaking.

The child nodded, scurrying down the hallway and grabbing her brother who had his face wedged into his pillow. The three got into the car and made their way to the hospital.

As they rushed in, Y/n was rested on her mother's hip as the girls older brother closely trailed behind them. Her mother talked to the receptionist before putting the girl down and looking over at her son, "Polaris, stay with Y/n I'll be right back," she said before basically running down the hallway.

The two sat in silence for a good 20 minutes before their mother came back, a fresh batch of tears on her face. Before the women could reach her kids she was stopped by two police officers who needed some answers. "I'm sure my husband can answer your questions after he sees his kids, excuse me," she pushed past them, taking both of her children's small hands and leading them down the hallway.

"Dad!" Polaris shouted, running into the hospital room and placing himself right next to his father who laid slightly drowsy in the bedsheets. He gave his son a weak smile as the girls hold on her mother's hand tightened. Tears started spilling out of her big e/c eyes. The sight of her father hooked up to so many machines just to keep him alive frightened her.

Her mother comforted her, picking the girl up and walking into the room. "There's my girl," he softly said, a weak smile pulling at the edge of his mouth. Through quiet sobs the girl asked, "w-what happened?" Her fathers face sadly looked down before he smiled up at his daughter. "Well, I was down at the police station today since they asked for my help with interrogating this big scary guy," her dad said, at which Polaris' eyes grew wide in admiration.
