"My Lord!"

Morgana's voice rang loudly around the courtyard and Uther pulled Merlin from the edge before the servant fell, throwing him to the ground in disgust, the boy's head colliding hard with the floor. "Morgana!"

Morgana began hurrying to meet Uther.

"You're just in time." The king nodded towards the pyre.

The torch touched the wood and flames sprang from the source and spread over the pyre, surrounding the Prince.

"No!" Morgana sprinted up the last few steps to the balcony, ignoring Merlin's still form upon the ground. "Wait!"

"What is it Morgana?" Uther's brow furrowed. "There's no reason to worry."

"It wasn't Arthur! We have proof!"

Uther held up a hand and the torch was removed. But the flames had taken hold and Arthur was surrounded. His curses floated through the air, barely audible over the sound of crackling wood.

"Are you sure? You must be certain, child."

Morgana swallowed. "I am certain my Lord. You have to get Arthur down from there before he's killed! He has done nothing!"

Uther sprang into action. Finally, it was more than he could dream of to have evidence of his son's innocence. He didn't have to do this. Arthur could be saved!

"Get him down from there!" He ordered, and guards leaped onto the pyre to get to the Prince.

"Council: assemble! We have much to discuss."

He turned to his ward. "Thank you Morgana. This is more than I could have dreamed of."

He nodded to Merlin. "Bring him."
