They've only been away from the house for 15 minutes, and during that time Nicole has heard nothing but the humming of the car, and Max's brooding. He's just been staring out the window, looking crestfallen. Even though Nicole was kind of starting to get annoyed with how he was letting the situation look worst than it actually was, she was starting to get a bit worried. Even when he was in a bad mood, Max was usually still able to hold a conversation. He hasn't said a single word.
With a worried expression on her face, and not knowing what else to do, she laid a hand on his shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile when he looked her way. He looked back out the window and she let out a sigh. Another idea popped into her head, and she looked at Goofy to make sure he was still paying attention to the road, and she pulled out her phone and typed a message. When she was done, she lightly elbowed him and when he looked at her with a raised eyebrow, she turned the screen towards him.
are you okay? No offense, but you're starting to make me a bit depressed.
Shaking his head with a light chuckle, he took the phone from her hands, and typed up his own response.
yeah I'm perfectly fine. It's not like my dad just freaking bashed all my plans for the entire summer with this trip that I have no way out of. I'm floating on freaking rainbows!
She looked back up at his face to see him with a dead panned expression, and she rolled her eyes at him, and snatched her phone from him.
You don't need to be so sarcastic
I can't help but be sarcastic
Maxie this isn't the worst thing that could happen to you, you know
Well it is for this year. Goodbye hopes, goodbye dreams, and goodbye roxanne!
At that last message, she looked up at the roof of the car and let out a breath, leaning back in her seat. Seeing that Goofy was still occupied, she lowered her voice down to a whisper.
"Speaking of which, isn't there a certain someone who should know about this trip?" Max wasn't quite getting it, so she let out a frustrated groan. "You know, a certain someone who will think you ditched her on your first date?" She whisper shouted, and tapped his forehead for emphasis. Annoyed, Max grabbed her wrist, and looked off in thought. Realizing what she meant, his eyes widened and he turned back to his dad.
"Dad, I gotta stop somewhere! I have to talk to someone!" He shouted, urgently.
"Well- WOAH!" Without waiting for a full response, Max reached over, not noticing that he was squishing Nicole, and grabbed a hold of the steering wheel, and turned it to the right, almost making the car lose its balance. After hitting a fire extinguisher and making all of the water sprout out of it, they reached, what Nicole guessed, was Roxanne's house.
Not looking the least bit phased, Goofy looked towards his son with a big smile on his face. "Now, make it quick, Maxie boy. We gotta put some road behind us!"
With wide eyes, Nicole looked at Max like he grew two heads. "And how about a little warning before almost killing us?!?"
Sending a quick, apologetic glance to his best friend, Max stepped out of the car, and hurriedly walked to the front door.
Goofy and Nicole watched him knock on the door, and they could only imagine that his face looked as shocked as theirs when they saw who opened the door. A big, and very intimidating, guy stood at the door in nothing but a white tank top, and a pair of striped shorts.
Nicole looked at Max's father in worry. "Um, i-is this the right house?" Goofy only responded with a shrug. When they looked back at the house, they saw Max reach out for a handshake, but the intimidating guy just looked at him. When he still wouldn't talk, Max started to slowly back away, and tried to make a run for the car, but stopped once he saw someone else at the doorway.
