Why did I do that? Why did I do that? Why. The fuck. Did. I. Do. That?! Is what kept running through Max's head since he parted from Nicole a few minutes ago.
I could've just said goodbye, but I had to kiss her. I didn't actually kiss her but still! She probably thinks I'm fucking weird. Max thought with a groan, and he shook his head to focus back on his father.
While finding his books, and helping his father find his, Max found out why Goofy was there in the first place. There was an accident at his workplace, and he had somehow ended up destroying the entire building.
Yep, that sounded like his old man.
"So I got fired." Goofy concluded, balancing a big stack of book in his arms. "Guess I lost my focus." Even though he dreaded the thought of his father being in college, he did feel a bit sympathetic for him losing his job over something that he didn't mean to do.
"Dad, I'm so sorry to hear that." Max said sincerely. Then he shook his head, and sped up to keep up with his father's pace. "Well, look, if you're here to stay, I think we need to-"
"Focus more!" Goofy exclaimed while turning around, causing the books to tilt slightly. "You're absolutely right. Now that I'm with ya, I won't be distracted no more! No siree!" Then he turned back around, and started walking again, his eyes looking straight ahead. "I'm gonna get me that college degree-Whoa!"
Then he was falling down a set of steps, his books flying into the air. When he reached the bottom of the steps, all of the books that were in the air came back down, and bounced off of Goofy's afro. The students nearby saw the whole thing and walked away laughing at him. Max was blushing in embarrassment, and he walked up to his father with a stern glare.
"Dad," He started through clenched teeth. "What I was saying, is that we need to establish some ground rules." He couldn't look away from his father's ridiculous looking head piece.
Damn this thing is starting to hurt my eyes!
"Well, sure. Whatever you say, Maxie." Goofy said with a shrug.
"First thing," Max started, holding up a finger. "Lose the wig."
"But I need to look hip and groovy for college." He responded.
Max snatched the wig off his father's head. "Dad, you're scaring people." Without looking, he threw the wig behind him, and it landed right into a trashcan.
"I know you're worried it might be hard to get into the swing of things here-"
That's not even close to what I'm worried about.
"And well, it may be." Max suddenly found himself in his father's arms. "But I figure two Goofs are better than one!"
Max scoffs. "Two 'goofs' alright." He mumbled.
Goofy didn't seem to hear him. "Just think! A whole 'nother year, just you and me!"
I can't fucking believe this! Max thought, internally freaking out. He clears his throat, and discreetly takes out his phone, and pulls up Nicole's number, and quickly sends her a text.
nicky I need you to come to my dorm. NOW.
"Uh y-yeah. Great." He said with a forced smile. "Welp, I-uh need to go. Nicky promised she help me study."
Goofy's eyes lit up in recognition. "Lil' Nickie's here, too? Tell her I said 'Hi' would ya? I have another class to get to." With that, he walked off.
"Yeah." Max said with a sigh, and he quickly walked the other way to go to his dorm, mumbling.
