The sun was all the way up when Nicole groggily opened her eyes, and since she was too lazy to reach for her phone, which was in her back pocket, she guessed that it had to be late in the morning. She sat up and stretched her arms out and lets out a yawn. When she looked towards the front of the car, she saw that both seats were empty, and saw that they stopped somewhere in the woods.

After sitting in the car for a few extra minutes to wake up a bit more, she got out the car and stretched her legs, looking for the other two while doing so.

Where the heck could they have gone? She thought. She started to walk around and find any sign of them, until she heard the sound of splashing water. When she started walking to where the sound came from, she finally saw the familiar red hoodie that Max loves to where so much. Taking a closer look at him, she saw that he was sitting down by the lake, just staring at the water. Looking off to the side, she saw his father setting up a tent.

With a sigh, she walked over to Max and stood behind him. When he seemed to not notice her presence, she cleared her throat and pats him on the shoulder.

"Good morning, Maxie." He jumped a bit and turned around, looking up at the face of his best friend. He let out a light chuckle.

"I think you mean 'Good afternoon', Sleeping Beauty." He turned back around when she sat down beside him.

She gave him a look of confusion. "Afternoon? What time is it?"

"4:05."

Her eyes widened. "Why'd you guys let me sleep for that long?" He gave her a shrug.

"Well, you are kind of a pain in the ass to wake up, not to mention that when you are awoken from your precious slumber your anger can match a bear when you poke it with a stick." He sent her a teasing smirk when she almost pushed him into the water. He then gave her a sheepish smile. "And I wasn't so sure if you made up for the sleep you missed when you made my Powerline costume. And I'm gonna say it again, I'm really sorry for getting you in trouble."

She just rolled her eyes with a smile. "You can stop apologizing Max. It wasn't your fault."

"But it was my idea."

"And I willingly decided to take part in it." She looked at him straight in his eyes. "Max, you're my best friend, and you know I would do anything for you."

I would help you no matter what, as long as you're happy She wanted to say.

"So, if you ever need assistance with a plan, no matter how stupid it may be, or just help for anything, I'm gonna be there."

"Well, thanks for telling me my plans are stupid."

"Damn it, boy you know what I mean."

He let out his first genuine laugh since the vacation started. He then rubbed the back of his neck. "Speaking of which, there's this new skating park being made not far from school that I want to go to when it's finished, and I may need to borrow your skateboard when we get back." He said, all in one breath.

She gave him a deadpanned look. "You broke yours again, didn't you?"

He scoffed. "No." When he only received a raised eyebrow in question, he continued. "It fell in a river."

She groaned and laughed at the same time. "Only you, Maxie."

He laughed along with her, but stopped when it felt like the ground was shaking.

Max stood up. "Am I crazy, or is the ground shaking?"

"No, I feel it too." They both looked back to where Goofy was putting up a tent, and what they saw made their jaws drop.
