Time was flying very fast. For Max, spending time with Jane was one of her goals, she made Max feel less stressed and help her remove all those bad thoughts she had. It was only the end of April and they were impatient to get rid of school and start the summer break.

Max had a week, or less, that she was trying to text Jane, but the weird thing was that the brunette was, somehow, avoiding her. At least that was what Max really thought. She didn't have time to go and check out on Jane since it was the finals season and all the students were preoccupied, studying anytime anywhere. Max was worried for her girlfriend, not understanding at all what was her problem. But on the other side, Max thought that Jane might be stressed from the finals, too, and maybe that was the reason she was being distant or replying with short texts.

On Friday, Max decided to go at the night club, finding, at least, some time for her girlfriend. She took with herself Nate and Jayden, and the three of them made the way to the club Jane was working. Max stepped closer to the counter, facing another girl, shorter than Jane, with red dyed hair and wearing the black uniforme.
"Um, hello." - Max greeted confusedly.
"Hello!" - the bartender smiled.
"Do you happen to know Jane? The other bartender."
  "Yeah, of course."
"I wanted to ask if she's been working today or not?"
"Actually the manager fired her." - the bartender answered sadly.
"What? What the fuck? How come?"
"I'm surprised, too. Jane was one of the best bartenders in here. The boss was so happy with her job, but since another manager was hired, he started firing some of the employees and Jane, too."
"What an asshole!" - Nate snapped angrily.
"I know, I think he's gonna fire me soon, as well. He said he needs a new staff."
"That's why she hasn't respond my texts." - Max whispered. - "Okay, thanks."
"No problem."

Max walked out with her friends. She felt so bad for Jane, she needed that work so much.
"I feel so bad! Such a pussy manager!" - Jayden clicked her tongue in annoyance.
"I'll try to see her tomorrow." - Max said and walked back to school with her friends.

The next day, the first thing Max did when she woke up was texting her girlfriend. She insisted a lot, telling Jane to meet her at the park. So Jane accepted.

The redhead arrived first at the park, waiting for her girlfriend impatiently. Max knew Jane needed some comfort, which the redhead was ready ti give it all. Jane showed up a few minutes later, with her usual serious face. Max could tell she looked totally not in the mood, the tension was in the air.
"Hey!" - Max smiled and raised on her tippy toes to kiss the brunette's cheek.
"Hi." - Jane said in a simple yet cold tone. - "What was the emergency?"
"You've been avoiding me these days."
Jane's eyes shifted around in confusion before stopping on Max, her facial expression changing with into a disbelieve one.
"You're joking, right? That's your emergency?"
"It is an emergency! I've been wanting to talk to you but you keep replying me with short texts and I just wanna make sure you're okay. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, just busy."
"Jane, be honest. You know you can open up to me."
"What exactly do you want me to tell you? I don't get you."
"Look, I know you're sad and angry because that asshole fired you."
Jane eyebrows wrinkled with nervousness.
"Who told you that?"
"I asked for you at the bar last night and a bartender told me what happened."
The brunette sighed loudly with her nose.
"You could've say something to me. I was so fucking worried about you! You didn't even respond as usual when I was texting you. You kept avoiding me. And when that bartender told me about your situation I was double worried."
"What were you expecting me to do?! To come to and tell you that I was sad? That I was angry? That I lost something I fucking needed? You wanted to see my anger?" - Jane angrily barked.
"I'd try to help you, I guess?!"
"To help me?!" - she scoffed. - "Like how, turning back time, going to the past and stopping this?! Yeah, okay, go for it. Do you have superpowers to do it, to help me?! Go on, I'm waiting."
"Jane, come on. You need to-"
"You can't do anything, you can't even help me! And you wouldn't care less. It was me who got fired, not you. You'd just try to comfort me, which is nothing, it doesn't even help."
"Can you stop being so rude for once?" - Max offendedly retorted, having enough by this conversation.
"I'm not rude, I'm realistic! If you don't like it then leave. The doors are open and you're free to go."
"Are you insane or what? I was just worried about my girlfriend, is it forbidden for me to ask? You're acting like you've known me yesterday." - Max almost roared, getting closer to Jane who didn't fade.
"Yeah, now you know. So what, you'll give me any solution, hm?"
"You'll find another job, don't be so pessimist. Your life doesn't depend on that job."
"Yeah, yeah! Go and find me a another job now, at least you'll help." - Jane snickered with an sarcastic and annoyed tone, offending her girlfriend even more.
"I thought we could get along, but I see you're too angry, and you don't need my help. Great, do whatever you want. I try to help the others and that's the reward. Sorry to bother you." - Max sadly said and turned her back, leaving with fast steps and angrily huffing at herself.
Jane was being a total jerk and Max didn't own her anything to be treated like that.
