The summer was coming, the heat reaching. Soon, Max was finally taking her summer vacations. But she wasn't happy at all, she had a strong reason to not feel good at all. Kennedy had been coming about every night at the club, where Jane was working, and Max didn't like this fact. She didn't like when Kennedy was around Jane, it looked like there was still something between them. Jayden on the other side was skeptic about Kennedy, too, warning Max.

One night, Max decided not to show up to the club, staying in her dorm with her overthoughts. Jay noticed her friend's mood and sat on her bed, asking:
"You're not going to the club?"
  "No. Kennedy is probably there."
"Her energy makes me throw up. I don't like her at all!"
"She's trying to get closer to Jane. I wouldn't be surprised if she wants to get back with Jane."
"Not gonna lie, I'm with you."
The redhead's phone buzzed. She quickly took it, on the screen popping a message from her girlfriend.

Ok
I'm coming

Max walked to the Central Park, looking around for Jane. She found her sat on a bench, smoking while staying on her phone. Max slowly approached and sat next to her.
  "Hey."
"Hey, why didn't you come today? Were you studying?"
"I wasn't in the mood to come, though. What about you, how was your day?"
  "As always."
  "Was Kennedy there?"
Jane saw her girlfriend in disbelief and then laughed.
"That's why you didn't want to come?"
"No, it's not that. I was not in the mood to come, for real. It's not her." - Max looked away and clenched her jaw.
"Let's take a walk." - Jane took her hand and stood up, walking around with her girlfriend.
Max wasn't over it yet, she wanted to know why this Kennedy was staying so close to her girlfriend. They were something before, but not anymore. It was too confusing. The redhead though a little and then spoke:
"Can I put some music on your phone?"
"Sure." - the brunette pulled out her phone and gave it to Max.
The redhead unlocked Jane's phone and put the music on, while trying to find some time to check her girlfriend DMs. She went on Instagram, finding quickly Kennedy's username. Jane had chatted with her through texts. Well, Kennedy was the one texting her first, always. Max checked all the conversions. They were talking about things they had done in the past, including the dating part, in which Kennedy seemed so involved. Her messages were like she, in a way or another, was begging Jane to get back together, and she was being flirty, too. Max's blood boiled. She didn't like this. It looked like Jane was just liking Max, having an attraction towards her, but nothing else. The redhead turned off the music and the phone, handing it back to Jane.
  "Why did you stop it?"
"I have to go back, I'm tired." - Max replied and looked away, trying not to show her anger and sadness.
  "Oh, okay."
Jane walked with Max until somewhere. She turned to her girlfriend, hugged and kissed her temple and then left.

Max entered her dorm, slamming the door harshly, kicking her shoes off and collapsed on the bed.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?" - Jayden asked quickly.
Max didn't speak, she just hugged her knees and hid her face, starting to cry.
"Max, hey, why are you crying? Did something happen?" - the blond girl walked at the redhead's bed and placed her hands on her arms.
  "She doesn't love me."
  "What? What the fuck?"
Max raised her head and sniffed, wiping her tears away with the forearm.
"That Kennedy goes after her and texts her every time."
  "What?"
"Yeah, I saw their DMs, they were talking like they were girlfriends and Kennedy was reminding Jane the date they had before."
The blond girl pouted sadly and pulled her friend into a hug. They stayed like that for some seconds and Max pulled back, still letting her tears roll down her freckled cheeks.
"I bet Jane just likes me as a person, a crush, and we're girlfriends just for fun. Like, not a serious relationship. There's me again, giving people so much and getting nothing in exchange." - she rubbed her face, sighing.
"But... maybe Jane doesn't show it, that she loves you?!"
"I don't know, but I do really love her. I never felt like this before and that's why I don't want that bitch, Kennedy, to ruin our relationship. ...Maybe Jane doesn't have real feelings for me, she just likes me and that's all."
"Max, stop thinking like that. I guess Jane's just, like, that type of person who doesn't show love, like, she needs time and the right moment to confess. As for Kennedy, I don't think Jane likes her anymore, maybe they're just friends."
"Maybe you're right." - the redhead shrugged her shoulders.
"Get some sleep, we'll talk tomorrow." - Jay taped her shoulder and waked at her own bed, laying down and turning off the lights. Max laid down to, thinking about how was she going to get rid of Kennedy.
