Nervousness trickles up the back of my neck as I walk to my working room in hesitant steps. Certain anxiety still takes over me since I've just started working there a day ago and the fear of doing something wrong in front of my new co-workers still haunts me.

A small wave of confidence washes over me when someone I can recognize walks in the room and I quickly rush towards there, walking in. The atmosphere changes once I go past the door – going from cold and empty to warm and welcoming, with a couple of people talking by the end of the long table fixed to the wall and another person by the other side of the room.

The place actually looks a lot the other one I worked it, just that it's more focused on Batman than anything. All the posters that extend themselves over all the walls plus the items set on the table by the far right have to do with the character.

I let my bag and my coat hanging on the back of the chair before I sit down on it, sighing a bit as part of the tension goes away – my shoulders will certainly be aching later because of it, damn. As soon as I start the graphics tablet, a hand touching my shoulder briefly makes me jump, pulling me away from my thoughts at once.

"Ah- Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," the same person who touched me says and I look up to see Gerard – he wasn't here yesterday when I had been assigned to this room, but he fits all the descriptions the creative director told me, plus, who doesn't know Gerard around here?

"No problems," I say, breathing a chuckle, "I'm just kinda nervous since, y'know, new workplace..." I trail off, letting my eyes flicker over him – he's cute – and my cheeks immediately heat up when I meet his gaze, but he blushes too.

"Um, I'm Gerard, I guess you already know who I am and what I do..." He trails off once I nod; the creative director did tell me. "I, uh, I actually just wanted to say hi and know you," he smiles, looking at the chair beside mine before pulling it a bit closer to sit down. "You worked on Aquaman, didn't you? (Y/n), right?"

"Ah, yeah," I nod, taking a quick glance on the tablet to check if I really started it. "I got here yesterday."

"I heard a lot about you," he cuts in, somewhat shyly, looking away. "People like your work a lot – I do too – and they were talking a lot about you lately. They planned on getting you to the Superman section, but I insisted to bring you here." Though Gerard smiles, he still doesn't hold eye contact, like if he's uncertain about my reaction.

"Oh?" A grin cracks my lips before I know it, along with the proud feeling suddenly present in my chest. "Really? I'm glad, thanks a lot!"

"Hello," I say as approaching Gerard, placing a cup of coffee on the table before folding my arms over his shoulders and resting my chin on my arms, observing him work. His hand works fast, thin gray lines being left behind as he makes a sketch.

"Hello," he greets back, trying to copy my voice and tone, laughing after I playfully slap his shoulder. A hum in appreciation comes from him after he glances at the paper cup. "Thank you," Gerard says, placing the pencil down on the table, stopping to draw so he can drink the coffee.

"No problems," I move away, now leaning back against the table. "Don't get yourself too excited, it's just an attempt of getting a raise," I joke, winking at him.

Gerard raises an eyebrow at me, snorting unamused, "continue like this. I'm not saying you're getting a raise; I'm just telling you to continue, I appreciate it very much."
