(A/n)

This is the 69th chapter [I don't count the intro one] and it'd be the 99th if it wasn't the 30 drafts that I'll most likely never publish
I'd publish a smut bc it's the 69th if my smuts weren't so bad

Christmas means spending time with our friends or maybe traveling to visit my family - many times Gerard's too - and, rarely, the travel is a escape from the strong winter. It always means cuddling at some point, which transformed into a kind of tradition to do it while drinking hot chocolate or eggnog under thick covers, anxious for the gifts we would receive in the next day and always preferred to keep the habit of doing it in the 25th's morning.

Unfortunately, as the years went by, work started demanding more and more from us, what got us, sometimes, busy even during the important dates and dismissed any chance of celebrating, resulting in both of us just cuddling and drinking something while our minds and body are too worn out to either move or pay attention at whatever movie the TV plays.

This year wasn't much different from the last case - the band's reunion took a lot from our attention and Gerard would've been free like everyone else during the holiday if his worries weren't just resumed to My Chemical Romance, but also to The Umbrella Academy; this fact cancelled every plan the two of us had of getting out of Los Angeles to visit our families like the others did to theirs.

"You should at least pay your parents a visit," Gerard insisted more than once. "you shouldn't be stuck in here because of me!" His pleads, however, were the same thing as nothing since it didn't convince me of leaving.

"There's no way I'm letting you spend Christmas alone."

He discussed in the first times I argued, but simply started ignoring me after some times, in a useless hope that I'd give up and go without him. Noticing I wouldn't convince him no matter what, I decided to not comment about the subject anymore and prepare everything for the Christmas night in secret.

Gerard was still asleep when I decided to leave the house - it wasn't too far from noon, but also not unexpected since he was up until late yesterday, working in some sketches from what I could see when approaching the desk to hand him a cup of coffee.

People hurriedly walked around the streets and crowded the stores, probably buying the presents they forgot or the ones they purposely decided to buy in the Christmas eve, believing the prices would be lower - it's a good thing for the companies, but not for the employees who have their times with their family limited and get grumpy because of it, what ironically result in them taking longer to do their work. Thankfully, I already bought all the gifts and all of them are with their owners, with an exception of Gerard's since he's going to spend the Christmas with me, unlike the others. Knowing what does he like is easy after years of living together.

The thought Gerard had in mind was that we weren't going to celebrate anything, so we didn't prepare anything for the holiday rather than decorating the house in the beginning of the month. I decided it'll be the best if I buy everything today considering it'd not work the same if he started getting suspicious of something.

Once I arrived home, I noted Gerard wasn't present and the house was the same way as I left it if disconsidered the now organized bed along with small changes that signed he prepared himself some breakfast. A smile makes its way to my lips; I start organizing the living room to give it a cozier atmosphere, inevitably wondering about how'll his reaction be when seeing everything. Maybe he'll giggle as usual while calling me stubborn?
