It's Nice to be Important, but it's more important to be nice!

It is important to be legit to everyone else but more important to be legit to yourself
Well, this quote has been in and out of news and headlines for the last century. There have been variations of it but I thought of it in a different way, a way which seemed more practical and more importantly, a way which seemed to have worth in terms of the legitimacy of an individual.
Let me tell you a small story for this thought.
There was a boy named Joe and he was taught since his childhood to be nice to everyone. He was important for his family and he always tried to be nice even in his baddest moods, for he was taught to respect the feelings. The one thing he was lagging in was giving importance to himself, being nice to himself and in the process of growing up he lost the track of his true self. He started to pretending to be nice to everyone regardless of his feelings. Over the years, he started lying about things because he wanted to be nice while being important to everyone. Then one day it was discovered that he is not a legit honest person, a person who would be honest in his every action, every opinion, every thought and every deed. The people for which he was important stopped respecting him eventually.
Now if we rethink about this thought that I thought of, you can see why it is important to be honest - LEGIT to yourself first before being honest and nice to everybody else.
