The room was dark like a starless night but they could tell it was large. As they crept further in the light from the entry slowly faded. Tessra spoke to Fern.
"Fern, lights."
"Yeah."
He snapped his claws and his hands lit ablaze like torches. Around them they could see crumbled rock and pieces of once magnificent statues littering the cold stone floor. Fern moved his hands around to illuminate different parts of the room as they walked.
The statues were of men and women dressed in cloth and flowers. They all bore some kind of marking on their face and pointed ears. Their eyes were closed from what they could tell. Feet of the statues were still attached to pedestals that were surrounded by broken brick.
Musty carpets that were once blu now laid on the ground in a tattered dust covered form. Cobwebs formed over the walls and corners of the room. They stood like silken traps along the ceiling and walls.
They stuck closer together the farther in they wandered. Frost had a question that he held in his mind that he finally decided to ask.
"What do you think happened here?"
Tessra moved to the front of the group with the concern of shielding them from anything coming.
"The Cyndri were the original people to live on Cynthil, but they moved away as soon as humans came along. So one chance is that they could've just left."
Fern's ears twitched.
"And the other chance?"
"Angry humans."
The darkness of the ruin closed around the light like a black cage capturing the light so they could see only what lie directly in front. The sound was dead silent except for the sound of their footsteps echoing in the halls. They could hear each other's breath it was so quiet.
Frost got even closer to the rest of them.
"I don't like this place."
Brite had found that he could not see anything with his eyes so he began to breathe deeply and concentrate. He focused in and tried to feel if their were any living things besides them in the room.
He had done things like this before. It was how he was able to avoid stepping on bugs, or how he was able to tell where a morning bird's song came from.
He could sense nothing but them and a few spiders crawling about. Then as he opened his eyes the voice inside the Peace Armor spoke to him.
"Low light levels detected. Requesting permission to activate dark dispeller."
Icons appeared in his vision and floated in the air. It seemed like he was the only one who could notice them. He tapped the symbol that looked like a star. Then a glowing blue line appeared on his chest and lit up a greater amount of the room.
The others turned over to him and saw the beaming light radiating from his chest. Fern tilted his head.
"Woah, how'd you do that?"
Brite just shrugged.
"I do not know."
Tessra turned to face the newly illuminated parts of the room. She then tugged on Fern's shoulder and directed the groups attention to a set of large metal doors. The doors had intricate locks on them that appeared in the shapes of blooming flowers. The door itself was just slightly open.
Frost looked up and down at the gate.
"I think we can squeeze through that gap."
"Tessra nodded good thinking. Brite since you have the larger light you go first."
"Ok"
Brite walked over to the gap in the doors. The others followed behind. He turned sideways and moved an arm into the gap then his torso and other arm. He was touching both sides of the doors, but he was able to slide on through.
Tessra called out from the other side.
"Check if it's clear."
Brite turned to have a look at the room.
This room had a few cracks in the walls to let light in. Large pillars stood in rows and held up the ceiling from crashing in. Dust particles floated through the light and grass actually grew on the floor and in between cracks.
The grass became more plentiful further down the room. The only exit to the room was a sealed gateway. Boulders covered its entry like an earthen fortification.
He turned back to the others behind him
"Ok"
One by on they crawled over through the metal doors. Frost, Tessra, then finally Fern made their way to the other side. Fern saw the light reaching through the cracks in the stone.
"Well guess we don't need this anymore."
He waved his hands and extinguished the flames from his fingers. Frost bent down to see the grass. His eyes traced down to where the boulders were stacked up and over each other.
"Over there that's where we're gonna find the flower."
Fern put his arms behind his head.
"How do you know?"
"The grass is growing towards the boulders, but there isn't as much light running over their. That means that it isn't the light in. This room that's making it grow. There must be some kind of magic that's increasing plant growth."
Tessra put a hand on her hip.
"You're right."
They all paced over to where the boulders were. They were too large to try to move even with all of them hauling one at a time.
Fern sighed.
"There's no way we can move even one of these out of the way."
Frost began to look worried.
"But how are we supposed to get through?"
A deep rumbling noise began to resonate throughout the hall. Frost, Fern, and Brite all turned around to see what was happening. They saw dust and dirt began to gather up and float around Tessra's feet. She closed her eyes then took a deep breath.
When she opened them the green of her iris' seemed to be even more vivid.
"You three, move outta the way."
They all stood back from Tessra and the boulders. She hit the fists of her gauntlets together then slowly raised her fists up. The ground seemed to shake as she stood there with dust gathering around her. Fern showed a look of concern.
"What's happening!?'
Tessra didn't turn around to answer him.
"I am a knight of Runnarra Goddess of Human Might and the Earth. My power is Geomancing."
With that she through an arm back and one of the large boulders flew to the side. She gritted her teeth and did the same with her other arm. Another boulder was flung from the pile.
"I can use the strength that she has given me to move the dirt and rock."
Another boulder tossed aside, and another.
"We use the strength she has given us and then improve. Become stronger every day. Then we can move mountains!"
She swung both her arms back and all the remaining rock blasted out and smashed against the walls in a spray of dirt. She was breathing heavily but she moved some hair back to the side of her face, and motioned for the others to follow her through.
They walked along with her amongst the rubble, still in awe of what she could do. These once giant boulders reduced to dirt and pebbles
