Chapter VI: Your wish is my command
Outside from what looks like an unusual blue phone box, someone is patrolling, as planned.
He has walked half of the dock, when he hears a voice calling him."Just the manI was looking for!"
Turning around, the Doctor gazes upon a man who looks every bit of his fifty years. He's tall, with graying hair and icy eyes that hardens his gaze even more.
"Yes... boss?" the Doctor pushes his luck.
The man laughs scornfully.
"Oh yeah, sure, you call me boss, but you don't give a damn about my orders!" he snaps.
- Brilliant! I guessed right, this is Peter Carlisle's boss for real. Peter Carlisle. P.C. Like Personal Computer, ahah. - he laughs in his mind, but hIs mouth makes the mistake of following his brain and unfortunately, it is loud and heard by the boss!
"This the way you want to behave, isn't it? I talk to you and you laugh in my face? Carlisle, you're taking a turn for the worse, I didn't know you wanted to be demoted to a traffic warden so badly!" the man with graying hair retorts, his tone threatening.
- This is not the proper moment for certain funny thoughts. - the alien decides. - And I don't mean to ruin poor Peter Carlisle's career, of course!-
He's more than ready to fix everything.
"I was laughing, that's true, but not at you, of course, never at you. Mostly at your 'ingenuity,' if you really think I'm going to drop that case. You should know me, you can't expect me to let it go once I've pounced on that!" the Doctor plays his role perfectly, acting like Peter would.
" I know, but I want to warn you: leave Holden alone! Don't presume I don't know you're planning to pay another visit to him at the Arcade!" the boss grumbles, giving the Time Lord tons of precious info.
- That's where we can find him! -
"What can I say, boss? Give me a more challenging case to work on and maybe I'll change my goal." the younger man shrugs. Well, only apparently younger.
"Now, excuse me, but I have to go, I have more important businesses to deal with," he finds an excuse to leave and go back to his Companions, in order to set a plan.
"I hope that finding other clothes is among your businesses. What the fuck did you wear today?" Carlisle's boss makes fun of him, walking away.
- Ah, ah. very funny. What can a corrupt policeman know about style?- the Doctor rolls his eyes, walking away as well.
As the Doctor is about to come back, Barty is still thinking about his patrol outside. He's not happy at all for being left behind, although the deep honor of receiving the key of the TARDIS is improving his mood. The two Muggles do nothing but disturb his thoughts, He would like to send them away, but he made a promise to his Second Dark Lord: he would take great care of his TARDIS and this indirectly means even of whoever is inside it too.
But he won't allow those two to ruin such a precious, clever, and brilliant spaceship. They are Muggles, for Merlin's sake!
He turns to them with a sneer on his lips, just to make Peter break that silence.
It seems he hasn't learned his lesson yet.
- I need Midori again. Why the fuck there's no alcohol when someone needs it?- Peter wonders as he searches in his pockets, but he doesn't have any flask on him.
