I WOKE TO SMELL OF SWEET WAFFLES and sausage drifting into my nose. I lifted my eyelids slowly the soft ambient light from the nightstand glowing warmly. I yawned and fully opened my eyes seeing the eggshell white ceiling above me. I tried to push myself up into a sitting position but my injured arm buckled under my weight. I cursed at the pain that shot through my entire body. I took a deep breath and pushed myself up using my good arm and swung the black blanket off of me, the cool breeze from the air conditioner hitting my legs. I looked down to see I was no longer wearing my black dress.
I saw that I wore a cotton black v neck t-shirt, the shirt was relatively long as it came to just above my mid-thigh. I pulled the top of the shirt to my nose, the subtle scent of white amber and sandalwood filling my nose. I smiled to myself as I swung my legs over the side of the bed slowly. I looked down to see there was soft plushy white carpet that blanketed the room, I slid off the rather high bed placing the majority of my weight on my left leg. I winced at the sudden rush of blood that traveled to my wounded thigh. The gauze started to turn a light red color as I started to walk towards the ebony colored door. I pulled it open gently, the smell of food hitting my face like a cold wind in the middle of winter.
I heard some clinking of dishes across the room when I saw the beautiful surroundings that encompassed the four walls, I was standing in. The mix of dark cypress and santos mahogany wood floors created a dark background against the modern sleek design of the home. The wood floors alternated in color in sleek vertical lines through every room of the house. I looked over to the right to see a large cream-colored sectional adorning the center of the large room, its massive size seemed to be built to fit the space. The sectional looked warm and inviting considering the sharp edges and chrome legs that it stood on. The back of the sofa had a solid pillow that traveled down the length of the leather sofa to the chase that jutted out from the left side where Cerebus was sleeping, his cute black and tan form contrasting against the couch.
I let my eyes travel to the two-tier coffee table, the top a solid white lacquer square the was off centered from the butternut wood base. The coffee table sat on top of a large ash colored rug. Its soft fibers looked like a soft pillow. I walked a little further into the room to see the large concrete and black accented electric fireplace on the wall across the way from the sofa. The large 65" TV mounted above it like a beautiful art piece.
I continued to walk into the room, I was using the ball of my foot to counter act the weight of my injured leg. The far-right wall was a clear wall of sliding doors, the view was breath taking, the teal to blue gradient of the water that was in his waterfall pool was surrounded by luscious dark green tropical leaves. I gasped to myself as I scanned the room more.
"You shouldn't be on your feet sweetheart." I heard Damian say right next to my ear startling me.
"Jesus, how the hell are you so quiet, you almost gave me a heart attack." I said firmly as he gave me a mischievous smile.
"Do you want to know what else can give you a heart attack?" He said amused by my expression. I admit he piqued my interest I gave him a gentle smile before I felt my legs leave the floor as he carried me to the kitchen. My butt hit a soft black leather bar stool as he slid a plate on Belgian waffles, biscuits and gravy and sausage in front of me. I heard my stomach growl in response of seeing the delicious food.
"D-did you make this from scratch?" I asked as he placed some orange juice next to my hand.
"Yes, it's called instant waffle mix." He said sheepishly.
"I knew it, it was too good to be true." I scoffed
"I am being sarcastic love, of course I made everything from scratch. I wanted to make sure you ate something decent since you really haven't eaten anything in 4 days." He said sitting next me with his plate of food. Four days? I've been out for four days?
