I was frozen from shock. My mom went to her bed and sat down, setting her head in her hands. I could hear her slightly crying. I took a deep breath. I had to remain calm. I walked over to my mom and hugged her. She took a deep breath and looked down at me.
She hugged me back, " Thanks Hay," she smiled, and squeezed me a bit tighter. She let go, wiping a tear from her cheek, " I guess we better tell Els when she gets back from school," she nervously laughed.
I raised an eyebrow at her, " how many more months until her birthday?"
" two, why?" she asked me.
" I got her a present," I evilly smiled.
" what is it?"
" an opportunity to move out of the house once she turns eighteen," I gave my mom face that said : well duh.
She giggled, " ok Hay," she shook her head, " wanna help me?"
" with what?" I asked.
" finding a new job? like any hirings?" She asked. Her face then went slightly pale, " I forgot, you are sick, want me to make you some soup?" she placed her hand on my shoulder.
I shook my head, " its ok mom, Im feeling better,"
She nodded, " Ok, but I better take your temperature to make sure," she started to head to a cabinet in her bathroom. A minute later she appeared with a thermometer and stuck it under my tongue.
We waited for it to beep before pulling it out. She read it, "98," she looked at me, " Hayden?"
I sighed, " some kid at school was kinda being a jerk so I pretened to be sick, and its ok." I tried to explain, " I only missed my electives and English,"
" whats that kid's name? Because I will go strait to that principle and-,"
" no mom, its fine," I stopped her, " I don't want any drama. Drama is bad," I told her.
She seemed a little calm. She sighed, " ok," she agreed, " just, stand up for yourself next time, don't pretend to be sick,"
I nodded, " I promise ,"

I heard the front door open, " MY PHONE STOPPED WORKING!" a teenage voice cried out.
I rolled my eyes. I was on my bed, working on my homework. I decide to keep it on pause and see the doom spiral go down. I dashed down the stairs and headed to the pantry, pretending to garb a snack.
" You don't understand mom! There is no WIFI on my phone!" Elsa yelled at my mom.
" Elsa, I need you to not act like a jerk for ten minutes so we can have a family meeting," My mom aruged back, " You to Hayden, I know you are not down here for the secret stash of cookies Elsa hid and you found," she turned to me, " meet me on the couch, both of you," She then headed to the living room, leaving me and Elsa alone.
Elsa narrowed her eyes at me. I smirked and started to head to the living room. I sat next to my mom. Elsa sat In the chair next to the couch, " What are we sitting here for? I have stuff to post"
" ok," my mom took a deep breath, " I lost my job,"
Elsa's eyes widened, " You did what woman ?!"
My mom narrowed her eyes, " I lost my job, and until I get a new one," she started, " we will have no WIFI in this house,"
"WHAT!!" Elsa yelled.
" don't worry, It wont be for long," My mom fidgeted with her fingers, " because we are moving into an apartment.."
Elsa sunk into her chair, " I cant belive this.."
" Belive it," My mom stood up, " because you are also getting a job,"
" what?! Why doesn't Hayden have too?!" she asked, gesturing to me with her hand.
" yes, Im pretty sure everyone is wanting to hire a thirteen year old," I said sarcastically.
She narrowed her eyes at me, " don't give me sass,"
" Its sarcasm,"
"ok, that's enough! Elsa, go pack," my mom pointed to the stairs. Elsa rolled her eyes and started to walk that was, " oh, Els?" My mom started.
" what?" She asked.
" you are grounded, hand over your phone,"
Elsa groaned, and walked back to my mom, handing her, her phone. Mom shoved it in her back pocket then turned to me, " you should pack too, we move out soon, "
I nodded and started to head to the stairs, " Hey Hayden?" my mom called out.
I turned and looked over to her, " Yes?"
" Im so sorry for all of this," She apologized.
I shook my head, " don't say sorry, none of this os your fault," I smiled at her. She smiled at before I ran up the stairs into my room.
