Blue Eyed Boy- Chapter Seventeen
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Turns out I was right. After spending a hungover Sunday, I was forced to go to school on Monday. The rumors were various and some of them not even close to the truth. Some said that we just had a fight. Some said that we confessed our undying love for each other and are now a couple. The craziest one I had heard yet was that we had a massive fight and punches were thrown before we started heatedly making out and he took me to his bedroom.
This last one made me blush when the girl in my English class asked me about it. I've managed to calm most of them by now, but I knew I was going to be interrogated at lunch. That leads us to right now where I am being ripped to peices by my two best friends.
"What is going on with you and my brother?"Spencer demanded.
"Nothing!"I declared for the hundredth time today.
"Then why were you arguing about liking each other and throwing out compliments and what each of you deserve,"she protested.
"How do you know that for sure?"I questioned.
"I saw the video."
"There's a video?"
"Yeah. Half the school has already seen it,"she shrugged.
"This is not a shrugging matter,"I stated.
"You're right, it's not. So now you better spill,"she commanded sternly.
That's when I just caved in and figured that the gig was up. I told them everything: every conversation, meeting, and argument. I even told them about the mistaken kiss. I did, however, leave out the fact that it was while I was dating Mark.
They just listened with rapt attention the whole time. They never interrupted except to show that they were listening. I swear that they wished they had a bowl of popcorn as all of the drama pored out of me. I took a deep breath when I finished, gaging their reactions.
They didn't do anything. They both just sat there stunned that we had both somehow kept this a secret. Finally Mark spoke up.
"If he hurts you, then you just tell me and I'll put him in his place,"Mark smirked.
"We aren't even together,"I reminded him.
"But you will be soon,"Spencer piped up, speaking for the first time since I blurted it all out.
"No, we won't. It's all because he thinks he doesn't deserve me. Do you know what happened to make him feel this way? What baggage does he have?"I asked.
"I have a sneaking suspicion-"she mumbled.
"Well spit it out!"I urged.
"Okay! Well you know the other year when he was off doing the internship?"I nodded,"Well, you'd think he would call, but he didn't. He would only send the occasional letter and I never got to see the address. My parents wouldn't let me get the mail. They would get it before me, take it out of the envelope, and then let me see it. I think that he wasn't doing an internship, but I don't know what he was doing,"she explained.
"Hmmmm,"I thought,"What could he have been doing?"
"Well, he had been getting in trouble a lot more than usual right before he left....Maybe my parents sent him to a boarding school and didn't want me to think they were evil?"she suggested.
"That would explain why he doesn't seem to like your parents and they don't seem to pay him much mind either,"I pondered.
Then the bell rang and I had to continue on with the rest of the boring day. I hadn't seen Tyler in homeroom and history and wondered if he was ill. He had seemed fine on Saturdau so I don't know what he could have. Maybe he was just trying to avoid me or the rumors.
