Gale's POV
When Katniss volunteered for Prim in the reaping, my whole life completely changed. At first a million feelings swept through me as I watched Prim make her way up onto the stage. I knew she wasn't my sister, but I knew that Katniss loved her more than she loved anything else, and that was enough to make me feel lots of different ways. I watched helplessly as Katniss ran up to Prim and shouted "I volunteer as tribute!" That made me snap into reality. Katniss is trying to go up onto the stage but Prim is pulling her back screaming. I run up to Prim and pull her back, away from Katniss. She is kicking, trying to pull herself from my arms but I hold on tightly.She finally gives up and stands next to me to watch. Katniss has made her way up the stairs and stares into the distance, I can tell she's trying not to cry. Effie Trinket asks what her name is. "Katniss Everdeen," she says in a steady voice. I wonder what is going on in her head right now.
