Chapter 4

I'm sorry it took so long to update, I just started high school and never expected so much homework! But now I have gotten a bit more under control with this whole homework thing and I promise I will try my best to update more often. The two hours pass like 2 minutes. I basically did nothing but bite my nails. I don't even know why I was so nervous, he was my best friend after all, I knew him more than anyone else. He was the only person I trusted, until now.

I told Prim and Rue that an old friend is coming over, and that they need to be on their best behaviour. They both promised me that they will not be naughty.

When 4 o'clock came I decided that I don't want to go to the train station to meet Gale. I came over to Peeta the second the clock turned to 4:00. "Peeta," I say quietly
"What is it Katniss?"
"Can you go to the train station to meet Gale? I don't want to do it myself," I ask nervously.
"Wait, so you don't want to go?" asks Peeta.
"No," I answer. Peeta looks away from me and nods. "Whatever you want Katniss,"

When Peeta goes to the train station I sit there and fumble with my locket that Peeta gave me. Gale killed Prim, is all the words that I can manage to think of. Gale killed Prim, Gale killed Primrose Everdeen, Gale killed my little sister. I keep repeating those words in my head until I hear a small voice. "Mummy you're going to rip the necklace." I look up and see the big blue eyes of Prim looking into mine. I stop touching the locket and let it drop down and hang from my neck. Prim looks so much like Peeta. She has the blonde hair and blue eyes that Peeta has. The only thing that is like me is the passion for archery. Every time I take out a bow and arrows Prim always wants to hold it, or at least see me shoot some arrows. She says that she will be as good as me one day. Rue however, has some more features of me than Prim does. She has the seam Brown hair and olive skin, but she has beautiful blue eyes that Peeta and Prim do.

"Are you OK Prim?" I ask. "Am I five yet?" she asks looking at the locket around my neck. "No, not yet, but soon," I answer. A second later Rue comes into the room. "Mum, what is in that locket? Can you tell me? I'm in year 2, I think I am old enough." Rue says. I look at Rue. "How about if you finish you're homework then I will show you." I say, knowing she got homework from school. Rue looks at me, her blue eyes looking dull. "What's wrong?" I ask her. Rue Does not answer, she just walks out of the room. I look at Prim, she is playing with the pearl that Peeta gave me. "No Prim, don't touch that. Prim rolls the pearl around in her hand. "It's very pretty," says Prim, her eyes concentrating on the pearl. "It smells like the sea," she exclaims. I stand up off my bed and walk over to Prim. "That's because it is from the sea," I say as I sit down next to her on the floor. Prim stops fiddling with the pearl and looks at me. "Really? There is no sea here, only in district four, wait, did you get this from there?" She asks. I try my best to sound normal. "No, I didn't get it there," I mutter slowly. "Really? But then where did you get it?" Prim asks again curiously. I look away from her, I don't want to lie to her, but there was no way of keeping the Hunger Games away from my kids except to lie. "I got it from dad, he gave it to me, he said it was passed down by generations in his family, but he wanted me to have it." I lie. I felt bad about it the second the words escaped my mouth, I hated lying, especially to my kids.

Gale and Peeta should have been here by now, but after 30 minutes they were still away. I let Haymitch look after the kids as I left, I should have probably picked someone else but there was no time. I put on my dads old hunting jacket and some of the Capitol boots, and set off, not looking back.

I ran through the forest, having already checked the train station and district twelve they could not have been anywhere else. As I ran I felt like I was back in the hunger games again, looking for my allies which could be already dead. I decided to run towards me and Gales meeting spot, if they got lost Gale would lead Peeta there, but Gale couldn't have got lost, Gale knows the forest as well as I do. As I started to arrive to the meeting spot I started to panic. Maybe Peeta got hurt somehow and Gale dragged Peeta to the meeting spot, knowing that I would go to check there first. I finally arrived to the spot and looked around, they where nowhere to be seen. "Peeta! Gale!" I yell not wanting to hold my panic in. I turn in circles frantically screaming their name until I hear someone young whisper behind me.

"Katniss"
