Kurio was set to fight in the tournament today. Reanon had spoken of Kurio's skillful magical abilities. Still I was nervous. Everyone in the school was told to watch the tournament in the arena. The arena was hidden behind a bright white door near the school's front. On the way I passed by Kurio in the hall. He grabbed my arm gently and pulled me out of the busy hall. His eyes were bloodshot and he was sweaty. I touched his forehead gently with the back of my hand. Worried I checked again. He was incredibly hot, a serious fever.
"Kurio you can't fight like this," my voice soaked with worry, "I will go tell the head-"
"Don't bother," he sighed weakly," they won't let me go."
I shook my head and looked at him from head to toe.
"You. Out there. Like this, your," a tear ran down my face, I bit my tongue. I couldn't say it but we both knew, out there in the arena, he'd die.
"Hey," he sucked in air," don't you worry."
"I can't help worrying Kurio. I'm sorry too."
"Me too," he pulled my hands to his chsmiled. doesn't matter though, i will fight like hell to stay," I looked at my feet, he lifted my chin," for us."
I swung my arms around him and sobbed quietly into his black coat. My light makeup made a mess of me. Kurio broke from the hug slowly and brushed away the tears. I laughed weakly and he smiled.
"Don't try to run, I already tried that," he whispered.
"You told me that the first day we met," I grinned.
"You need to promise me something."
I turned from him and looked at the crowd of people coming in. They all wanted to witness the death of young people. Each devil possessed soul wished to sponsor this, to grow it. I gritted my teath at them. Reanon came out from the crowd towards us. Snow and Faith followed him, running, panting hard like they'd been searching.
"No," I said slowly.
Kurio scoffed at me, "what?"
"Look."
Reanon pulled Kurio onto his shoulder, ignoring protest. I nodded and we ran to the old greenhouse. This had been the plan. After seeing the headmaster woman Reanon, Snow, Faith and I had taken matters into our own hands. Reanon kept up appearances with Kurio and us well. This plan would take us far from this place, all we needed was some time and magic. Shots fired behind us. I wished Reanon could use his magic but he had explained that. The gunfire ringed in my ears. Reanon had to save up his magic for a few days to do this spell. It was suspected he had tried this plan before he had been controlled. An enemy of the school's turned into a controllable demon. The wind wisped past my ears as we ran.
"Almost there!" Faith was sprinting ahead, Reanon was falling behind.
"Why didn't we grab guns?!" I groaned.
"Oi shut it!" Shouted Snow.
"Ahh!" A single bullet, rang clear and true. Reanon had been shot in the leg.
I skidded to a stop and took cover behind a tree.
"Snow go I will handle this!"
She nodded and gave me a firm pat on the back. The men and women with guns had advanced quickly and were gaining ground. I looked at my hands and focused.
Hurry!
Focus
Change...
Now!
"Ah-WOOOOO!"
As my wolf self I lunged to Reanon and Kurio, who had since taken cover behind a rock. Growling, I lay down and they climb atop my back. My speed is mighty and the bullets whizz past. I was grazzed on the shoulder and leg when we reach the greenhouse. Faith is waiting with a mashed up plant.
"It will lessen the pain," she tells Reanon.
He accepts it and is helped off my back by Snow. Kurio follows after. I changed back and block the windows and doors best I can. The grazes slow me but I chew on the plant Faith gave me, which helps me ignore it. Good thing for Faith. Snow is explaining to Kurio of his sudden illness. I can't say I didn't know he could get sick. Overdoing the use of magic drains a person. Reanon told me that, I was stubborn, didn't listen.
"Everyone, over here, the portal is forming," Snow shouts.
Soon we are gathered before the shimmering, floating, glass-like portal. All we need to do it walk through it.
"Ready?" Asks Reanon, he steps through first and dissapeares into the shimmering, white portal, "one at a time!"
The people with the guns had begun to smash the windows. We went in as told. Faith first. Then Snow. I was third, Kurio insisted. The people had broken into the greenhouse as I stepped through. From the other side I could see everything. The headmaster woman, looked straight into the portal.
"Hurry Kurio!!" I screamed.
Kurio's hand reached into the portal and I pulled him in. A bullet came with him, buried into his back. He fell atop of me wheezing.
"No!no no no!!!" I stammered.
His eyes fluttered. Reanon had closed the portal now.
"Help him!" I shouted, my tear soaked eyes pleeding.
"I can't Atraya," Reanon sighs, then snaps his fingers, "but you could. A moonwolf can save someone whom they love, declare Kurio your mate."
Kurio looks up at me," I have loved you, since I I I I, first saw y-y-ou."
My tear dropped on his face, "I love you too," our lips meet and I cry softly, "mate."
"Mate," he replies weakly.
I feel a hammering pain in my head. I Falk to my side behind him. My back feels it magnified.
"Ahh! That hurts!"
I look at the sky, wherever we went to, the moon lit up the sky. I looked up at it, my hearing was failing. I was dying too, with Kurio. Reanon, Faith and Snow shouted above us. "Get up" they said, I couldnt hear it. I looked at Kurio and he twisted his hand into mine. I saw Reanon above us, crying into his hands.
"Its not your fault Reanon," I say.
I focus then on the moon. A voice speaks in my mind.
Call to the moon to save you.
Looking at the moon above I plea to continue, with my friends. I plea and cry.
You shall live once more Atraya
The pain slips from my body and I shoot up. Kurio is motionless by my side.
"No!" I wail," both of us!" I slam my fist into the cool earth," you damned moon!!"
Snow brings me into a hug and hugs tightly. Faith is silent sitting on a tree log. Reanon rubs his chin slowly and stands up, I watch as he closes Kurio's eyes.
"Damned moon," I say softer now," you were suppose to save us both."
I cannot sister, I am sorry
I break away from Snow and wander towards a river, looking up.
"Sister?"
I am your sister yes, try to stay alive for a long time, she chuckles.
I nod my head and step closer to the river. Reanon is running to me nervously.
"I'm not about to kill myself!" I say," don't you worry."
He comes and hugs me tighty, giving me a brotherly pat on the back. I look around.
"Where are we?"
"A place that Supernaturals call home," he grinned
