"Here," Snow dug her hand into the damp earth,"here to rest."
"I don't want to rest, I want to keep going, we bury Kurio," thirsty but determined I kept marching, nobody followed.
We had traveled through the portal back in time, or so, that's how it felt. Reanon had told me it was earth but a reflected version. Same air. Same soil. Same sky and sunrise, sunset. A version through a mirror, explaining Reanon being left-handed, Snow being left-handed and Faith being left-handed. Their left was my reflected world's right. With the instructions to the city being hard to follow, this reflection thing, became very annoying, extremely fast.
The city was in sight after a day's walk along the river. We had enough Kurio along with us. I insisted, he came from here, family deserved to know. I marched ahead, refusing to look back. They fell behind and i heard the group growl in annoyance. I looked at the sky and kept walking. The sound of water blocking out Reanon's cries.
"Atraya, your not carrying him!" Faith groaned," give us a break!"
Snow shot a nervous glance at me. I realized where I stood, atop a cliff. The river turned into a water fall. Not too high, sharp rocks lay at the bottom, jump and die.
"I'm not gonna jump, relax eh?" I step back and lower my voice,"wouldn't mind all that much if I'd fallen however..."
They caught up and lay Kurio down gently. I turn from his cold blue eyes, a tear rolls down my cheek. Reanon sits next to me and I feel him wipe it away.
"I hadn't noticed," I said softly, "how much i really did love him."
Reanon wrapped his arms around me, giving me a brotherly hug. Everything is calm for a moment, wind rushes through my hair. White smoke envelops me and my eyes run watery. Reanon is holding me tighter as the winds roar. Were spinning in circles, faster and faster. Snow and Faith fall prey to a seperate cloud. Kurio dissapears in a poof of white sparks.
"Dont be scared!" Reanon shouts, "Dont let it show, be clever and you will be okay!"
"Ahhhhhh!" Snow and Faith are screaming in agony.
"What is it? What's wrong?!" I scream, I cant see them anymore, "Snow?! Faith?!"
We are still seated on the log but i cannot see the log. Reanon is still here, trying to desperately mask his fear. I looked up at him, he wasnt confused at all. That made me extremely nervous. A choked plea came from my lungs. I was scared for Snow, and Faith, Reanon also. I was even more terrified, however, about a single question.
Why was Kurio taken?
The wooshing began to calm after a moment of worry. I calmed myself by taking deep breaths. Thank god Reanon was here, I'd of had a heart attack without him, without somebody by my side. The smoke left our lungs cacked with it's thick air. Coughing I seperated from Reanon and looked at where we were. Kurio was laying on a table in the middle of the room. I grasped at Reanon's sleeve. Kurio lay a meter from the ground on a metal table. He had no wound on his side anymore, completely fixed up. My eyes felt like they'd fallen out of my skull. I watched it in disbelief. Kurio. His chest moved up and down, taking unsteady breaths, but breaths!
"Oh my god!" I sputtered and ran to Kurio, "Oh my god, your, what?"
I looked back at Reanon, he was stuck in an invisible tube, shouting and pointing to a fixed point ahead of me. Kurio faded into mist again. It was like a movie, the perfect life. I saw all my greatest wishes with Kurio come true. Some great adventures we'd have, hiking, swimming, it was amazing. I became so engrossed in the projection nothing else mattered. I wasnt scared, until, i felt a tear drop onto my hand. Reanon's relentless pounding broke me from the film. It wasnt real, how i wished it was.
"Now now," hissed a voice, a snake like figure slithered from the shadows, "I didnt expect that," I peered at the shadow angrily.
The film kept going behind me, I heard the laughs. Mine and Kurio's. I shook my head again and faced the snake-man. He ventured further into the light. I took a glance around the room, it was bare except for the invisible tube that had Reanon, myself, the film, and this...snake-man. I forced my legs forward. The man wore a long green robe that was frilled at the hem. A twig was held firmly in his hand. His eyes, oh his eyes, the brightest eyes. A green with yellow flakes, they drowned in a body so slim and ancient. Young eyes on him. I looked at him, he was patched up with different skins. Human-like and animal or beast. His young eyes flickered with a moment of joy as they searched me. I slunk back, disgusted. I tripped over a detached leg. I understood now, the snake-man, he took body parts for himself.
Im going to die
No, your not, remember, be clever
