After a few minutes, Jungkook entered the room, while I was already deep in the research that Dr. Jung had told me to do.
He was oddly silent. He went to his desk and started working as well, but he seemed to be absent-minded.

"Dr. Jung was here..." I told him, to get his attention.
"What?" He looked at me with empty eyes, then realized what I had just said and continued. "What did he say? Did he ask for me?"
"I told him you were gone to the toilet... He said we have to research about this, cause it's important for our projects..."
I showed him what I was doing on my part of the smart wall and he nodded. He probably didn't even need to do research on that topic, he always knows everything. I knew about that technique too but there were probably some practical details I still needed to learn.
"Thank you... For covering up for me..." He said.
"You owe me one..." I said, deciding that I wasn't gonna go easy on him.
"Did you break up with her too?" I asked him, trying to mock him about the girl that I had seen earlier with him and the fact that he is known for constantly breaking up with his girlfriends. He literally can't stand having the same girlfriend for more than two weeks.

He looked at me confused.
"The girl who called you 'bunny'..." I specified, trying to hold my laughter.
"She's not my girlfriend..." He answered.
"Not anymore, you mean..." I remarked.
"No, she's... She's my little sister, Lia..." He said, leaving me speechless. How did I not know he had a sister?
"Since when do you have a sister? I know you have an older brother, the one who's an actor, but a sister.... How old is she?"
Not that I wanted to make conversation with him, but I was really curious why I didn't know about her.

"She's 17, she's still in high school..." He said, not looking too happy for some reason.
"Why does it look like you don't want to talk about it?" I asked him, not really knowing why I had become that talkative.
"I got mad at her and now I feel... bad..." He said, while typing on the desk. It looked like he really felt sorry but didn't want to show it too much.
"Why would you get mad at her? She's so cute!"
While replaying it in my head, the scene of her calling him bunny looked cute now that I knew she was his sister and not his girlfriend.

"She came here, where I'm supposed to work, and made me look like a fool... What was I supposed to do?" He said.
"Nobody even noticed, there was no need to scold her..." I explained to him.
"Well, thank you for making me feel like a terrible brother now..." He let out an heavy sigh.
I giggled at his childlike reaction.
"I didn't say it, you did..."
He turned to look at me and his expression had changed, he looked surprised. I immediately stopped smiling, feeling a bit uneasy under his sudden gaze focused on me.
"Wh... what?" I asked confused and right after I wished I didn't stutter.
"No, it's just... It's the first time we're having a normal conversation and you're even laughing..."
"Well, I was actually laughing at you, so I don't think it counts..." I said, not liking the sweet atmosphere that was levitating in the air. There wasn't supposed to be that type of atmosphere between us. We're enemies. Since forever. And that's it.

"Whatever, I'll get back to work..." I said before he could say anything else.
So the rest of the afternoon went by and after a while I felt like I knew everything about the topic: I had taken a few notes to remember the important parts and did other correlated researches even though Dr. Jung didn't ask. I wanted to be prepared for any possible situation, I wanted to look professional and I wanted my mentor to be proud of me.

"Look who's still here! Guys, come on, let's go! You've worked way too much for your first day" Dr. Jung awakened me from my trance. I was too busy trying to do my best that I didn't check the time, it was 5 p.m. In that moment, I realized that Jungkook had been working the whole time as well. Doesn't he already know everything? Or at least it should take less time for him to understand and learn stuff.

He looked at me and I realized I had been staring at him while having these thoughts, so I rapidly turned away. I turned off the smart wall and took my bag, to catch up with Dr. Jung and the others who were leaving. Jungkook did the same.

"Everything okay, guys? No questions or doubts for today?" Dr. Kim asked us.
We both shook our heads and Dr. Jung commented about how smart we were, saying he had seen our grades on our resumes. We thanked him while getting inside the elevator.

"Then should we start with the lab tomorrow? I think you're more than ready to get your hands dirty!" Dr. Jung joked around, making us laugh, while his colleagues were shaking their heads.
"Come on, Hoseok! It sounds weird! Also, you're gonna scare them away!" One of the other bioengineers working at the ALF Lab said.
"Okay, okay... I'll stop... So what do you think boss? Shall we start working in the lab tomorrow?" Dr. Jung asked Dr. Kim.
"If you guys are free and if Jungkook and Luna seem to be ready then yes, you better get started... They're not easy projects and there's not much time... Remember that if you do a good job, you'll also be able to publish your results under our Lab's name..." Dr. Kim answered with his serious look, which was the only look I had been able to see from him up until that moment.

Jungkook and I answered that we felt we were ready, while Dr. Jung and Dr. Min confirmed that they were available. In the mean time we had gotten to the ground floor. The elevator's door opened and we all got out. Once outside the building, everyone said goodbye and we all parted ways. Or at least I thought we did. After walking a few meters, I felt like someone was walking right behind me, so I turned around.

"What are you doing?" I stopped in my tracks and asked confused when I saw that it was none other than Jeon Jungkook.
"What?" He looked confused as well.
"Why are you going this way?"
"'Cause my house is this way...?" He answered with an awkward smile.
I felt embarrassed, I thought he was following me, probably to mess with me or something. I can't think rationally when he's around, because I know he just wants to make fun of me. But this time I was wrong, so I was about to get back on my way like it never happened, when he talked again.

"No, I'm kidding, I just wanted to mess with you..." He said, laughing.
I felt my blood boiling. Apparently our nice conversation after lunch was just a one-time thing.
"What the hell!"
He scoffed and started walking again.
This time I followed him.
"Didn't you already have your share of fun at the Lab? Do you really need to do this also outside of it?" I asked annoyed, while trailing him.
"Hey, I didn't do anything to you at the Lab! After all, I'm a professional..."
"When will you stop bothering me?"
"I'm not, you are the one following me..." He said with a smug smile.
"I am going home! YOU are following me!" I put emphasis on the words, to make the situation clear.
"I'm also going home..." He replied.
"You said it wasn't this way! Where the hell do you live?" I was getting all worked up, while he looked so calm.
"Why are you asking me where I live? Are you some kind of stalker?" He laughed in my face and that was it for me.
"You know what?! This is not my only way home... Goodbye!" I said, before crossing the road and leaving him there without looking back. Even though I wish I could have seen his face, it was probably the expression of a kid whose toy has been taken away. That's what I was to him. A toy to play with.
