(So remember the long one shot I announced a while back? This is the one. They're all humans... besides Nightmare. Nightmare is a mermaid.)

3 person POV:

Classic always loved the sea, the way waves crashed against the shore, the salty smell of water. He always wanted to go off into the sea and explore, sailing with a crew on a big ship. He wouldn't be a captain of course, he couldn't ever see himself being one but just being a marine would be enough for him.

But sadly, even though he live in a town right next to it, he couldn't do it. The people here feared the sea, he could understand that it was unpredictable and dangerous but that's just how nature is.

The people in town only had a small fishing port, no one ever swimming further than 3 kilometres off the shore. He hated it, he wanted to sail of, but he couldn't, not only because of the circumstances but also because of his brother and friends.

They were just like other residents of the town, scared of the sae may hold. They believed in kraken, mermaids, sirens and many alike.

(Mermaids and sirens are two different things despite what a lot of people think. Mermaid is a lady with a fish tale instead of legs. And a siren is a big bird with lady's head and sometimes chest too. Just for less confusion)

They were scared that if he would sail off, he wouldn't come back alive. So he stayed, every day sitting on top of a high rock that was in the place the land and sea meat. Staring off into horizon, hoping that one day he would sail off over the sea.

And he did, though not the way he wanted to.

One day pirates decided to raid his town, he fought, he protected but in the end, he didn't stand a chance. They took him with them deeming him, useful enough to keep.

Now he's their slave, mopping the ships decks or cooking some food, barely getting any himself. His once white hair became gray and matted from lack of bathing, well not exactly lack but rather the fact that he could only bathe in the water he used to clean the ship earlier.

He hated the way they treated him but... he loved working on the ship, even if it was forced work. Maybe one day he'll break free and sail off on a different ship, this time properly.

He really hoped so.

Classic's POV:

The sun shone brightly, blazing heat attacking anyone unfortunate enough to be outside. I was unfortunately one of them, the only things protecting me from the raging sun being my clothes. Some black shorts and a thin long sleeve button up shirt as well as wet bandana I tied around my head.

I mopped ships deck like every other day, not making eye contact with anyone just glancing at the sea every one in a while. Or maybe we were already out in the ocean? I honestly couldn't tell.

As I glanced up again and saw something that looked like an island in the distance.
''Am I having hallucinations from to much sun or is there a land there?'' I asked no one in particular.

Captain Ink suddenly appeared by my side, he looked through the telescope in the direction I was looking.
''It's just some rocks that rose over see. But ya got good eye sight to notice them.'' he said before walking off, probably to correct the current course.

I sighed before getting back to work, occasionally looking up at the 'rocky island'. Something about it just... called me, I couldn't really explain how or why but it did.
