Chapter One

STEPHANIE ' S POV

I woke up . It was the 1st of January 2015 . I had anticipation of not being bullied this year . Once again , I managed to drag myself up the stairs and into the bathroom on that cold morning . Just then , I got a call from Jake . Jake's the ultimate Alpha Dog . But he's my bestie . He can't stand to see me get called names or get pushed down or something like that .

" Hello " I answered

" Rise and Shine Steph ! "

" God ! I don't want to go to school . It's so cold ! P . S . Happy New Year "

" Thanks . Ya know ? You don't HAVE to come right ? "

" Yes , but I will miss History class and Mr . Burns will kill me ! "

" That old man doesn't do anything "

" I know but I will miss it and I will be marked absent . I'm not going to ruin my attendance record or the record of coming out first in all of the class tests !"

" Steph , calm down . You'll be fine . If you're that worried , just come ! I'll be there for you ."

" No ... I don't want to cause trouble or make Michelle jealous ! "

" Hahaha . My Michelle DOES get jealous . She's my girlfriend so duhh ! "

" Fine ... see you and Michelle in class . I'll be there . "

" Kay ! Bye ! "

He hung up the phone and I washed my face and showered . I managed my hair and wiped my glasses clean . I started heading to school with a history book in my hand cause there was going to be a history test . After reading and reading , I ended up in front of the school . I opened the big gate and walked down the crowed hallway . There was so much ruckus and a crowd surrounding it . I moved forward but soon , I couldn't help but ignore the fact that the sound was Jake's voice . I squirmed my way in and heard :

" If you ever say or think about doing anything to hurt Steph , you will have to deal with ME !" Jake said as he slammed Nate's body into the locker .

" Dude , she's a geek ! What do you care ? " Nate asked .

" She's my best friend ! Not you . " He said as he stormed out of the crowd angrily .

I got a hold of him and asked " What was THAT all about ?! I told you that I am capable of taking care of myself ! "

" You don't understand ! I'm doing this for you . "

" Well , you lost your best friend Nate now . What if you get hit harder next time ? I wouldn't be able to forgive myself . "

" I'm Quarterback of the football team . I'm the strongest one in the whole school even in comparison to the ones older than me . Nate is my team member and only my team can face me . Every girl wants Nate . Nate WAS my best friend . Not now . "

" Just keep yourself alive ... " I instructed .

*** The bell rang ***

History class started and ended and the test went perfectly .

Next period was P . E . ( Physical Education )

I wore the uniform with the yellow shorts for the first time . I always wore the track suit but I thought for starters I could change the way I dressed . Maybe that's why I was bullied . I need fashion advice !

I went out of the bathroom and there was the other five team members of the Varsity Football Team .

You could smell trouble all over .

Daniel , Rob , Sam , Jack and of course , Nate Lynn .

" Oh , look who it is ? " Daniel said .

" It's little Miss Nerdie ! " Nate answered .

" What do you guys want from me ? " I asked .

" Jake left me off with a warning . But that wouldn't stop me from dumping you in the icy cold school lake . " He said .

" Come on ... grow up . Please don't ! Ahhh ! No !!! Somebody help me ! " I shouted but Sam covered my mouth while the other three carried my body to the lake while Nate directed them .

Soon after , I blanked out .

After a solid 15 minutes , I woke up with someone's lips meeting mine . It was Nate Lynn .
