Kokichi's POV

He isn't so tall and strong, but he'll have to do.
The two girl's whose room I have completely ruined for them were obviously furious and chasing after me, why wouldn't they be? I find it funny though. Without these kinds of pranks this academy or whatever this place is called would probably be a lot more boring than it already is.
I'm Kokichi Ouma, and a lot of people find me annoying for my constant sarcastic remarks, occasional insults, and many many pranks. These two girls are by far my favorite to fool with.
"What- what are you doing!"
Oh, I hadn't thought of the boy I'm using as my human shield. I snickered and laughed.
"They're chasing me because I have a long criminal record!"
"What?!"
"Just kidding. I lied." I poked my head out from behind —I think his name is Shuichi Saihara? — to check if the two were still after me. My question was answered with a fist nearly missing my face. I quickly hid back behind of this emo looking boy and dragged him to guard me, making him stutter even more questions and protests. I guess his two friends had backed up from surprise.
Tenko Chabashira was one of the girls after me, the girl trying to punch me. She has this weird thing about men.
"Degenerate male! You ruined our room!"
"C'mooon, you didn't like the perfume I left for you? I thought you'd appreciate it! And that can't be the ONLY thing you can come up with, can it? Speak your mind, get creative, stop using the same phrase over and over!"
That enraged Tenko even more. She shoved Shuichi out of the way and aimed right for my nose. I moved, but only enough for her to instead strike to my shoulder. It hurt, I'll give her that. Over all of the commotion and excitement a loud, booming voice called for everything to stop. No duh it was a teacher, so my time to split. I shoved pass Tenko and shot a glance to Shuichi and grinned. I didn't know him, but I'm sure I would soon.
"Thanks for being my human shield! Bye bye, emo boy~"
With that, I was gone from the scene and down the hall. The boy's dormitory area. Now was my chance to locate my room once again. We had been given an opportunity earlier on in the week to bring our things to our dorms if we so choose, but I still hadn't remembered where mine was exactly.
The hall was surprisingly crumby and dusty for the school reopening. Did they really clean or are they just saying that? It made me feel a little unsettled, but I'm no neat freak. I just really, really hate lies!
I huffed and sneezed from the build up of dust and wiped my nose with my sleeve. That was annoying. A few more doors down and I found my dorm, the door was cracked open slightly and a very overwhelming stench hit me. This could be one of those awkward scene moments where someone walks in on a very embarrassing act, like changing or something like that. My dorm mate who was in here would have to be stupid to leave the door open like that.
"Hey, are you gonna just stand there or come in?"
I pushed the door open with my foot to see who had talked to me and stepped into the room, of course I already had a very good idea formed. He was kind of pale with light colored hair, an odd fashion sense and surprisingly nice shoes. I knew him very well, so introductions weren't very necessary.
"Aw, did you miss me that badly Rantaro? I knew I'd get paired with a quirky boy from the start,"
Rantaro Amami was tolerant of my humor and so called blunt honesty. I considered him my best friend, but I wasn't sure if he thought of me the same.
Rantaro raised a brow at me, turning his head down to be able to make eye contact.
"That's what you think of me, huh? Well, I'll take that as a compliment from you."
Most of my stuff was already there and ready, so I could just crawl on to the bottom bunk of our room and not have to worry about anything. At least until class started in about half an hour, which would not be very fun. The thought of how uneventful classes would be throughout the day basically killed me.
"Neheehee~ I met an emo boy today Rantaro!"
"An emo? What do you mean?"
I grinned and sat up in bed, barely missing hitting my head. For some odd reason, I felt bad for using that kid as a human shield. I've been feeling bad about a lot of my plots recently. It made me feel weird, regretting things I've done for fun. Probably for some dumbass reason.
"Well, more like used him to guard me from that one girl's punches. Tenko Chabashira? Yeah, Chabashira."
I put a finger to my lips and widened my grin. My stomach always seemed to flutter at every interrogation such as this one, it was so exciting! Rantaro shook his head and picked up his brush from his bag that he had set on the floor, brushing through his hair. That day had been getting humid.
"And I'm very sure that this mystery guy was okay with it."
Like it was right on time, a sudden knock at their door echoed through the room. I turned my gaze to the door then over to Rantaro, hinting to the other boy that I was in fact not getting up off the bed to answer it. Rantaro figured as much, walking over to the door to answer it. He was surprised to see the supposed all star detective Shuichi standing at the door — people called him that anyway, he had solved a popular murder case with one of his family members and earned the title. How he had been there? He wasn't sure, but it was really something. It was going on for two years.
"Hey, is your roommate here? I um, I think he dropped this-"
"How'd you get my scarf you stalker?"
I waltzed up between the two and snatched up my scarf, wrapping the checkered cloth around my neck. I panicked a bit when I realized I must have not noticed my scarf missing for that amount of time. I didn't have bruises or hickeys or anything, it just was alarming to me.
My bold accusation must have startled the hell out of the emo looking kid, seeing as he took a step back and now had a blush from embarrassment across his face. He tilted his hat down to hide behind it.
"I-it's not like that at all! You just dropped it so I wanted to give it back!"
I hummed, then grinned. Shuichi would be easy to toy with.
"Thanks emo boy! I really appreciate such a kind gesture!"
I snagged his hat and put it on my own head. He clearly did not like this, reaching for me to retrieve it. I wouldn't let him.
"I'll see you around, detective~"
With that, I shut the door and pranced back to my spot on my bed, sitting down with a loud thud. Rantaro looked from me to the door, dumbfounded, then cracked open the door to see if Shuichi was still standing there. He must have given up and gone away. Rantaro shook his head disapprovingly.
"You'll give that back, right?"
"Let me have a little fun, Rantaro! He's gonna be interesting."
