"So, I wonder. Why was I born a wolf to begin with..?"
"...I think everyone's trying to figure that out."
Legosi licked the wound on his arm lightly as he stood himself up, glaring at the large lion who glared back. Alan and Haru were behind him, only watching in silence. They were probably wondering why and how he found them, but explanations could come later. As the wolf readied himself, he could hear a conversation with Jack playing in his head. The question of why he was born a wolf if he could never understand Haru.
"From the moment they're born, they belong to a species— both carnivores and herbivores alike."
He was brought back to when he and Alan met Gouhin and the human's confession about his father. The desperation in his voice as he asked what he was supposed to be when he's a hybrid between a human and a wolf. He was caught between two identities: that of a human who could bridge carnivores and herbivores, and a wolf whose ferocity made him a threat to everyone he meets. He showed traits of both sides at some point, but he alternated between them.
Before his secret came out, he made himself out to be friendly and outgoing. The school practically fell in love with him, in a way. Even when he joined the Drama Club, he was accepted with open arms. After the performance in which Legosi fought Bill and Alan intervened, he still treated the wolf kindly nonetheless. Then he lashed out in front of Legosi and a few others, showing a side of himself they never imagined. It came to a head then, and he pretty much disappeared from the Drama Club after that.
"I think they're all trying to find a reason for being a part of this world."
Legosi stood himself up slowly, keeping his eyes on his opponent. He wasn't lying to himself anymore, Haru was important to him. Even after nearly killing her, he became infatuated with her as they ran into each other again and again. It may have started out as his instincts taking over, but it grew into something more. When he found out she was taken, he couldn't let it go! When Louis refused to help, he knew he had to do it!
Then there's Alan, who he grew to understand the more he thought about his behavior. He was intrigued by him when they first met, choosing to go to the wolf room during Territory Time. It was a strange choice, to be sure, but then he muttered about someone who would like being in the room. His curiosity got the better of him and they struck up a conversation, earning him "Legwolf" as a nickname from the human. When they saw each other again, they clicked more with each other. Even when he followed the wolf into the city and subsequently The Ghetto, he cared about him. He confided in him something that was clearly a huge weight on his shoulders. Legosi wanted to be there for him, to help the human find his way.
I found my reason, Alan., he thought as he tensed up. I'll help you find yours, too.
He turned his head, looking at the two victims watching him, "I probably shouldn't do this in front of you."
The rabbit gained a worried expression as the human's breath hitched, "Haru-chan, Alan-san. I'm sorry."
He knew what he had to do, and it was the only way to end this fight. As he took a blow to the face from the lion, he latched onto his arms. He braced himself for another blow, tightening his grip and moving forward. As his snout made its way to the crevice between the opponent's head and shoulders, he braced himself again as another blow came. Time slowed as he bared his fangs, lurched forward, and bit down hard.
My claws, my fangs...they're for you, Haru-chan. I'm all yours.
Red squirted out, a metallic taste touching his tongue as the lion screamed and struggled against him.
