Steve has been super quiet lately, even at the DX a couple kisses on the cheek is it. It's not that he's ignoring me it's like he was scared and nervous around me which weirdly felt worse. Tonight was me and Sodas 17th birthday Darry normally makes a cake and everybody comes over. After work today Steve was oddly giddy and talkative. He swept me off my feet and carried me all the way home even through the front door, surprisingly Darry didn't say anything he just smiled. "This is a new you...the old you I missed this you". I said squeezing his cheeks and kissing him. "I missed this me to". He said kissing my forehead and rubbing his fingers through my hair. Darry was making cake in the kitchen while me Steve and Pony watched tv, Dally and Johnny were doing some surprise with Soda, and Two was getting booze. I cuddled up next to Steve for a while before Soda, Dally, and Johnny came home. They got him a couple new flannels at his favorite store and he was very giddy. So was I because it meant I got more of his old ones. After an hour and everybody had showed up, we celebrated with cake and drinks. I got a card from Two a pair of shoes from Darry and pony, a jacket from Johnny, a teddy bear from Dallas and a couple of sodas old flannels from soda. I was surprised not to get anything from Steve but I knew money at his house was tight and him being around was all I needed. I cuddled up on him all night Dally kept eyeing him, he was surprisingly being more of a protective big brother than Darry. "Hey y/n" Steve whispered into my ear. "Ya". I whispered looking up at him. "Let's go get some fresh air". I agreed and he swung me up into his arms as he walked out the front door. He set me down and we walked around for a while, we finally made it to a mountain where we could watch the sunset. "Wow Pony don't lie, this is amazingly beautiful". I said gasping. "Not as beautiful as you". I looked back at him. "Steve!"
