Chapter Nineteen

*One Month Later*
Tomorrow was the big day! I'd been spending all day running around like a mad man getting everything ready, I spent the whole day yesterday with Johnny and Two decorating the church, and today I was helping Darry shop for all the food. Steve has been out with Soda and Pony getting his suit altered and inviting some family friends of mine and his. I was exhausted by the time we were done shopping and was ready to just pass out. "Hey baby" steve said as I opened the door setting groceries on the table, he came up behind me and kissed my cheek. "Hey honey" I said taking out all the veggies and cans. "Wanna come with me to pick up the cake"? I said turning around and kissing his cheek. "Sure"! He said hugging me. I changed out of my flannel into a t-shirt and put my hair up. "The cakes gotta be perfect so don't touch it". I said laughing as we hopped into the truck. He started up the car and I fixed my hair. We were almost there and I laid my head on his arm while he messed with my hair. We finally made it and I sprung up to go inside.  "Hi hun, what's your name"! The girl behind the counter said. "y/n Curtis, I had the three layer chocolate wedding cake ordered yesterday". I said smiling. Steve came up behind me and wrapped his arm around me rubbing my other arm. "Chocolate, i thought you wanted vanilla"? He whispered in my ear. "I know...but it's your day to not just mine.'' I said kissing his cheek. "Here you are hun". The worker said sliding the cake onto the counter. The box was really pretty with lace and purple font but the cake inside was even prettier. The iced lace and embroidery was gorgeous and looked just like the dress. "Wow.." steve said looking at the cake. I set the money on the counter and steve grabbed the cake while I held the door open. "Didn't know cake *hmph* could be heavy". He said smiling as he set it in the car. We drove off and made it home what seemed faster then when we drove there. We hopped out of the car and I helped him carry the cake inside. "Wow..." Darry said as we sat it on the counter. "Ya" steve said with a little giggle. "And its chocolate" I said laughing putting my hands on my hips. I hugged Steve and Darry and walked out to the living room to sit with Johnny Pony Two and Soda. "did I hear chocolate"  Two said laughing. "Ya and you better wait till tomorrow". I said punching him in the arm". We both laughed and went to watching Mickey. Hours passed and it was dark out. "I'm gonna head out I gotta finish something". Steve said sliding out the front door. I ran after him and kissed him on the cheek. "Where ya going" I said giggling. "Can't tell ya". He smiled and kissed me on the cheek then walked off. "Hey" I called after him.  "Where's all the extra money you been making going I feel like I'm the only person paying for this wedding". I smiled and put my hands on my hips. He turned towards me still walking backwards. "that...I also can't tell you". He laughed and bolted down the street...but not in the direction of his house.
