7. Naming it

Hueningkai kept staring at the dolphin plushie on his bed, wondering what to name it.

He had been wondering about it ever since he had it, but always failed to find the 'perfect' name.

At first he tried to name it 'Wonyoung' or 'Wonyoungie'. But he felt too embarrassed that he screamed putting a pillow on his face.

Plus he felt like a creep naming it after her and calling it. Just the thought of it made him scream again.

"Kai honey, is everything alright!?" His mom asked him from outside his room.

He quickly got up and replied, "Yes I'm fine! Mom I'm really fine."

That night he tossed and turned in bed, not only because he still couldn't figure out a name, but also because of the little incident that happened that day.

She remembered and noticed him. That was all that mattered to the 17 year old boy.

Wonyoung was walking towards school, she could always go with her friends, but she preferred to go alone and listen to some sad songs.

Just like Kai, she too couldn't sleep that night.

She hadn't given Jisung any answer yet, and just like he said he would, he gave Wonyoung time. She missed him a lot, but was still unsure whether staying as his best friend was the best idea.

She also had another thought that kept her up, and that was surprisingly, Kai.

She wondered whether or not they had met before since he looked so familiar, she wanted to ask him the other day but forgot.

"Good morning." Someone whispered right behind her ears. She could feel and hear it even with her earphones on.

She flinched as she was so startled by the sudden disturbance.

She turned around and saw Beomgyu, or at least whom she thought was Beomgyu, she wasn't very good with names and faces.

"What the hell?" She asked, but not with a rude tone at the boy who was grinning widely.

"Woah, guess it isn't a very good one for you." He said with chuckle.

"Beomgyu? am I right?" She asked and he nodded.

"And yes, it wouldn't be a very good one if a stranger suddenly whispers on your ears now would it?" She said with a playful tone.

Beomgyu's face grew serious as he slowly stepped forward, "Maybe we aren't strangers, maybe we've met before."

Wonyoung grew a bit scared of him, the way he quickly switched his expression made her a bit uneasy.

"Hey what did we talk about making her uncomfortable?" Soobin came at the right time and smacked him on his head.

"Ow! That hurt!" He went back to his grinning self and rubbed his head and glared at Soobin, behind him was a cute and smiley Hueningkai.

She gave him a small wave and said, "Good morning." to which he happily replied, "You too."

What could make a high schooler happier than always running into his crush as if they were meant to be?

"Hope he wasn't being too rude to you." Soobin said as he grabbed Beomgyu and ran ahead.

"That still hurts!" They could hear Beomgyu yelling from afar.

Now it was just the two of them again.
Not wanting to make it awkward, they both tried to start a conversation.

"I-"

"Ha-"

"You first." Wonyoung politely said to which Kai replied, "No no no it's ladies first remembered."

"Exactly." She cracked a joke and they both laughed.

"Seriously though, you go first, mine wasn't important anyway." Hueningkai, being the gentleman he was, insisted.

"Ok fine, I'm just gonna ask you." She gave in, "Have we, by any chance met before, like way before I came to this school?" She asked as they were slowly walking to school.

Kai was filled with relief, he somehow thought their first meeting was special and was a bit sad that she didn't seem to remember anything.

"Maybe...maybe not." He decided to be a bit playful.

"Oh come on," she jumped a bit which he found adorable, "I feel like I've seen you somewhere before, and Beomgyu keeps asking me if we've met."

They started to get more comfortable with each other, leading to Kai being able to joke a bit for freely than before.

"Well some people do tell me I look like models from commercials." He joked as he striked a pose.

Wonyoung smiled while facepalming herself. She gave an exaggerated sigh and walked faster than him.

Kai, fully aware that she was joking, played along and said, "Wait for me, I'm being serious right now you know."

"By the way, what was your questiom?" She asked.

"Well..." he hesitated a bit, "S-suppose you have this pet dolphin alright? What would you name it?" He asked, hoping to get a name for the plushie.

"Thats a weird question." She gave him a confused expression, "I don't know...EnDolphin? Maybe.." she shrugged.

"Endolphin? Huh..but why that name?"

"I don't know, it doesn't really mean anything, it was the first name that popped up in my head so.."

"Alright then, EnDolphin it is." He made up his mind to call the plushie that.

"What was that?" She questioned.

"N-no nothing."

And thus they grew from being total strangers, to being more like friends. And that was a huge step for Hueningkai.
