“Hannah go and watch your brothers band perform tonight”My mother was washing some dishes. I was stuffing cereal in my mouth. My step-Dad sat opposite me reading the news paper

“Brother? What brother? I don’t have a brother” I laughed as my mum put down her tea towel and turned to me

“You know what brother. Jona.” My mum turned around to wash the dishes

“He, Is NOT my brother”

My step father, James, Put the news paper down 

My mother turned around

“Yes he is,” My mother tried sounding calm

“She isn’t my sister. So I don’t really care to be honest”

Jona’s dad gave me evils

“Jona she is your sister Hannah he is your brother. Live with it!”

He lifted his news paper to his face again

“Yeah well I only have one sibling and that is my little sister Mary. Who is not Jona’s sister By the way”

My mum put her head down

“Hannah, I’m 7 months pregnant. Please. You have another sibling on the way”

I laughed. Jona laughed.

We hated each other.

I didn’t like sharing my mum with him and he didn’t like sharing his dad.

 My dad was shot, His mum died of cancer. We both needed each others parents but we could never have that,

“That thing won’t be me sibling either”

My mother sighed almost crying

“Don’t talk to your mother like that. Apologise at once”

I snared “Fuck you James. Mum I’m sorry you married a dick head”

Mary walked in,

Everyone was silent

“At least go for Cousin Lee”

Lee was my cousin who was also in the band. MY cousin not Jona’s.

“I’ll go for Cousin Lee. Not Jona”

I mocked my mother when I said Cousin lee

I got on with Lee very well.

I had never met the other 3 members.

I didn’t even know the names

The night came. Jona left at about 6ish. I wasn’t leaving till 7:30.

“Bye Mary” I went into her room and hugged her

“Tell Lee I say Hi and wish Jona good luck for me”

She smiled.

She was so innocent. She was blonde like mother but had brown gentle eyes like Dad. I was dark haired like dad and had green eyes like mum.

“I will tell Lee you say hi. But I’m not wishing Jona luck, He can fall off the stage for All I care”

She folded her arms. I laughed

“I do care” I laughed again

“Seriously Hannah” I stopped laughing “He needs us. You might not see it but I do. Just wish him luck for me”

I looked down “I don’t need him. And I will but only for you.” I kissed her on the head

“Night Mary. I love you”

I said as I reached her bedroom door.

I gently closed it.

I walked down stairs and picked up my camera,

I wanted to be a photographer. Like dad.

“Ok I’m off”

My mum and James were curled up on the sofa together

Mum turned around

“Ok hunnie. James will pick you Jona Lee and Oli up at 11:30”

I sighed

“I’d rather walk”

I leaned against the banister

James muttered something and mum hit his foot

“Say that again louder you dick”

My mum looked at me

“He was being stupid. I’d rather you didn’t walk sweetie”

I sighed

“Fine….Who is Oli?”

“Someone in the band. He is stopping here tonight”

My mum smiled

“Great” I sarcastically said

Mum laughed

“Gosh you’re just like your dad”

She stopped straight away

“Ok have a good night Hunnie”

I tried to smile

“Bye mum”

A tear dripped down my cheek.

The best thing anyone could say to me is I am like my dad.

I arrived at the concert.

I had a pass to get back stage, I walked through the door leading to back stage

Lee was sat in a chair

“Hannah My utter fucking bitch” He jumped up and hugged me

“Hey lee. Mary says Hi” He smiled

“I have missed her. I’ll call around tomorrow, Well I am any way for band practice”

I smiled

“Oh and Jona. Mary says Good luck.”

He nodded

“Rude to ignore people Jona” Some random person punched him on the arm

“That’s my step sister”

He looked at the person

“Oh”

I smirked

“Please don’t label me as your step sister. I would rather not be linked to you” I smiled In a bitchy way

Everyone Ohhed at that

“They hate each other” Lee turned around to tell everyone the amazing news

I shoved him

“Oh Hannah this is the band.”

I tutted

“Oh really? I thought it was the audience”

Lee sarcastically laughed and shoved me back

“Ok so this is Matt. That’s Jona who you know-“

“Unfortunately”

“Sorry are you going to let me finish” I nodded “Good. This is also Matt. I’m lee and this guy here is Oli”

I nodded and smiled at everyone

“Well I’m Hannah I’m lee’s cousin”

“And you’re Jona’s step sister”

Oli said laughing at his own remark

“Aren’t you the guy stopping at MY house tonight”

He nodded

“Hmmm, Watch it then, See you on stage people”

I walked out feeling pretty smug
