☣️☣️☣️
The hint of rusty metallic smell filled the air in that early morning. A gust of wind tried to break the silence as it made a whistling sound on the damaged gutters on the roofs of the old prison cell.
"Hey," Kris spoke as he approached Chanyeol. His breath created a fog around his face. While his deep voice penetrated the cold and silent air.
"What's up?" Chanyeol responded equally in a low voice as he looked over at Kris who was now standing beside him.
He knew Kris wasn't someone who appeared into thin air and created some conversations so he knew that the guy had something bugging his mind.
"Tao wanted you to know that he's sorry." He spoke softly as he diverted his eyes to the view ahead that was filled with dark trees.
There was silence.
Kris sighed as he put his hands in his pockets.
"He acted recklessly, yes. But he never meant to put the group in danger." He sighed.
"I know that, Kris," Chanyeol answered. His face trained to where Baekhyun was leaning on the watchtower near the gates.
The man seemed to be in deep thought as he stared silently at the approaching zombies that popped out from the sea of fog that was surrounding the prison. It was cold outside for sure yet he seemed not to get bothered by it. And Chanyeol can't act cool about it. Something about what is happening right now isn't right. At first, he knew that Baekhyun was the son of a well-known scientist. Then, things became more complicated when a monster zombie attacked his men on a scavenging hunt. Lastly, some sort of CDC-proclaimed team is looking for Baekhyun? For what? And God knows what else is out there lurking?
Chanyeol shook his thoughts away as he used his right leg to push his weight away from the wall he was leaning against as he stood on the ground.
"You should rest. It's still early." He spoke as he eyed Kris. The guy was wearing a leather jacket much like the ones Sehun and Suho were wearing. Expressions softer than Chanyeol and Sehun yet he gives off a stranger-danger vibe. His built body and composed aura show that he was once a P.E. teacher or a gym trainer in some establishment he knew now would be a total mess of zombies.
"I guess I'll do that. Tao isn't feeling well about what he did you know. I just hope that things get better soon." He said before walking away in the dark hallway of the prison and disappearing.
As for Chanyeol, his legs willed outside as he opened the cold metal door and crossed where Baekhyun's spot was. The cold embraced his body as he got slight chills and enveloped him.
"Early bird," Baekhyun spoke as if he knew Chanyeol was approaching. His voice echoed down the stairs.
Chanyeol stopped in his tracks as he realized that he was still on the ground floor, while Baekhyun was up there on the top.
"Nice senses." Chanyeol complimented from below as he resumed climbing the stairs.
Once he was on top, he saw Baekhyun still focused on watching the surroundings as if cautious of unexpected and unwanted visitors.
"How's Tao?" Baekhyun asked, still focused on the broad field.
Chanyeol rubbed his hands and blew on his palms.
"Kris just talked to me, he wasn't feeling good about it," Chanyeol answered as he sat on one of the benches that are tightly screwed on the walls.
"I wasn't even mad at him," Baekhyun started as he folded his arms over his chest and looked over at Chanyeol who was a few inches taller than him.
