BAEKHYUN
"Things are getting worse," Lay said seriously. His eyes wandered on all of us.
"What do you mean?" Jongin asked as I listened attentively.
"I believe that the virus is evolving and the mutation is fast." He announced.
"I've been working on this research for over a month now. The mutation of the virus is consistent. Progressive." He added. The entire group just sat there in silence in the middle of the bonfire outside the prisoner's basketball court.
Yeah, every week, I bring an undead zombie head on his proclaimed lab while he does his science experimenting skills on it while I'm on watch in case anything shit happens.
Also, after what happened between us and Chanyeol, we remained private in our little endeavors. We grew closer and stronger than ever. The team cooperated well in the organization and our refuge became tougher. However, it came to our attention that human resistance isn't the only one that is progressing, and employing that, the virus as well.
"So that's why the zombies are getting faster and more agile?" Luhan asked.
"Yeah, I've noticed that too," Kyungsoo spoke in seriousness as he drank his cold coffee.
I just listened. I looked at Chanyeol and I could see that he was also thinking.
How'd that happen? How'd this fucking virus evolve? Fuck.
"So what's the plan?" I asked.
"That's why I called up a meeting," Chanyeol interjected as he pushed his foot onto the wall where he was leaning and stood beside Lay.
He watched the eyes of others who were gleaming silently in upcoming fear as he sighed.
"There's nothing to worry about. We have fences. We have resources that could last for months. We have drinking water. Electricity. And we are here to protect each other." Chanyeol spoke. The heavy silence and tense atmosphere lessened a bit.
"Until when?" I asked but I knew this couldn't help the situation. Not this time, Baekhyun. Not this time.
"Proceed," I exclaimed.
"I suggest we build more defenses?" Xiumin raised.
"Yeah, we could do that. Higher walls behind the prison screens and more towers surrounding the area." Chanyeol nodded.
"How's the transmitter Suho?" He asked.
"A bit more work. Give me a couple more days." Suho answered.
I, myself, am worried about what's gonna happen next. I could feel it. The chills that come before the bad thing happens. The one I felt when we almost got slaughtered by the crazy humans several months back.
"How about the Intel, Xiumin?" I asked as I stood up and walked towards Lay and Chanyeol.
"Working, I just need to turn the dish tomorrow and it's good." He mumbled. They all sound worried.
"Guys," I sighed. "It's gonna be fine. We'll find a way. Please I need you more than ever. I can't afford you guys losing hope this time." I spoke. I tried my best to sound natural, and Chanyeol patting my back made me feel better. Enough with being snarky right now, this isn't the right time.
"Baekhyun is right." Kyungsoo stood up, putting down his cup on the ground.
"We are okay, we just need to maintain the organization and also manpower." He mustered.
