Lila Jane POV

Exactly fifty eight minutes later, Anton was at Ravenwood, ready to get going to find the books.

"Ready to go?" I asked.

He nodded nervously.

"Okay." I was nervous, too.

But I was also excited. I was going to embark on an adventure not unlike the ones my parents went on. And I was going to succeed.

Everything relies on me succeeding on this mission.

As we were sneaking into the Tunnels, my dad called me.

For a terrorizing second, I thought we were busted.

But then he called my brother, too.

"Wait here," I whispered to Anton.

Then I walked to the kitchen, where mom and dad sat, grinning like idiots.

"Mom? Dad? What happened?" I asked.

"Well... you know how you just love babies, Lila Jane?"

"Uh... Yeah. I guess so..."

"Well... we're having one!"

"What?!" Macon asked.

"A girl. We've known for four months."

Now, on a normal occasion, I would scream, congratulate my mom, jump for joy, then go over to the Lincoln-Duchannes household and tell Jez all about it.

But I can't very well do that, and, in any case, I was in a rush.

So I settled on congratulating my parents.

"Do you know what you're going to name her?" I asked partly to be polite and partially because I was actually interested.

"Well, we thought you two should name her. Or, at least, name her the name we plan to call her until she's sixteen."

"Rex!" Macon exclaimed.

"It's a girl!"

He shrugged. "Fine then. Rexita."

"Um, Macon?" My dad suppressed a laugh. "You are not naming my daughter Rexita."

He moped and grouched off to his room like the child he is.

"LJ?" Mom asked hopefully.

I pondered for a moment. "What about Rosie?"

Her eyes lit up. "Rosie! I love it!"

"Rosie is the perfect name!" My dad exclaimed.

I smiled. "Yeah... I need to go now."

"Go? Go where?"

"Uh..." Oops? "The bathroom. I uh, really need to pee."

They nodded curiously, obviously thinking I was off my rocker.

I returned to Anton in the entryway to the Tunnels.

"Now are we ready? After your baby talk?"

I blushed. "You heard?"

"Yeah. And I think Rosie is a great name."

"Nah. I'm gonna keep thinking on it. The perfect name will hit me. I've just gotta think. That name was just to get them out of my hair. So we could leave."

"Oh?"

I nodded. "Let's go."

So, together, we grabbed our suitcases, prepared to find what we needed.

Then find Jezebel.

And then fix her.
