Lila Jane POV
There was an old man sitting in this room, with skin literally made out of something leather-like, feathery hair, and red eyes. Like, demonic red.
"What you want, girl?" He asked.
"Er... I'm looking for either the Book of Moons or The Book of Stars."
He hacked out a bone rattling cough, then said, "if y'all knows what's best for ya, ya best be gettin' outta here."
I wanted to. I wanted to leave this place and never come back. But I had to do this. For my cousin.
"N-No. No, sir."
He raised an eyebrow. "Ah, she's got a temper on 'er. Fine, fine. Follow me."
He rose from the chair and harshly grabbed my arm. I wasn't sure how exactly he'd come to the conclusion that I "had a temper on me", or where his interesting accent came from, but I decided it best to shut my mouth.
He dragged me to a beige wall and then - I kid you not - threw me into it. But before I could ask what he thought he was doing, he jumped into it as well.
That was when I realized: we'd gone through the wall.
Now we were standing in front of a giant, stainless steel door.
"In wit' ya, girl. This as far as I go."
"Wait... but... who- what are you? And where am I going?"
"My name is Bradford Briggs. I'm the Guardian. And you're going into that chamber."
"Wait, wh-"
"STOP TALKING!!" he roared, and a pair of leathery wings with thorns and horns sprung from his back, and he began to flap them menacingly.
"GET OUT, GIRL!!" he boomed.
I screamed out of pure terror, then rushed through the door. But I couldn't resist. I pulled it back open.
He was still there, but calmer now. He was muttering something.
"No good. No good t'all. First the two boys, then the girl... there's a storm a'brewin'"
I shut the door again and closed my eyes. Did he mean that there had been two boys before me? How long before me?
Were they looking for the books, too?
And the most important question of all... were they friend or foe?
I opened my eyes and turned around.
I was in a cold, dark tunnel, but there was a faint light, about a mile away. That was the only possible direction to go in, so I started on my way.
I made it about three steps, when-
"Lila Jane?" A familiar male's voice called out.
I was filled with hope, suddenly. Anton found me!
"Anton! I'm so-"
But it wasn't Anton. Standing there in front of me was...
"Liam?"
Because there, plain as day, stood Liam and some other guy.
And they both had yellow eyes.
"I was wondering when you'd show up. This is Christian."
I was numb.
"B-But... I thought you were Light!"
A/N: I think I only have a few more chapters, but I will be making a book 2. I think this'll be a trilogy, actually. And sorry it took so long to update. I kinda... forgot...
