A flash of red. Distant screaming. A flame jumping near-

Drenched with sweat, you sit up, panting. You pick up your cat Mimi from beside your pillow and pet it, shaking. But it wasn't real. None of it was...

Sitting at the breakfast table, you pour cereal into your bowl slowly. Standing up to get a spoon, you realize you are still shaking. You console yourself, slowing your pace back to the table. After all, you need to be in better shape for the first day of high school.

You realize that your twin brother, Chen Linong, is out already. It's his second year here, since he moved here already last year. Staring in the mirror, you wash your face and put on the uniform that you bought long ago. You turn to grab your backpack and say goodbye to your cat and walk outside.

Walking, you see someone ahead. Who is it? You don't know anyone here anyway. But you see a girl, and she walks up to you.

 "Hey! Are you going to Silen too?" she says, eyeing your uniform. You nod and the girl grasps your arm. 

"I'm Becca!" she says loudly. "What's your name?"

 "I-I'm (y/n)." you stutter, disbelieving that you're actually interacting with another human. 

"Well, welcome to Silen Academy (y/n)!" Becca said as we kept walking.

The whole time, it seems surreal, as you listen to Becca talk.

At the school, Becca introduces you to her friends excitedly. 

"This is Diana, Charlotte and Angela. We're your new friends," she said with a smile. 

Her, or should we say your, new friends nodded excitedly, and you thought that this day was going pretty well for you.

~time skip~

It was first period, and you were sitting next to all your new friends. Every seat was full, except for the one to your right. You wondered who would sit there because everyone seemed like they were here already. Just when the bell rang, a tall, handsome and pale boy ran in, panting.

"Cai Xukun! Late! Once more and you will get detention!" Mrs. Bellsor said sternly. 

"Yes ma'am. Sorry, ma'am." The boy who was called Cai Xukun walks forward, bowing. 

He strides to the seat beside you casually and sits down. He winks at you, and Charlotte behind you tapped your shoulder. 

"That's Xukun," she tells you with a wink.

 You thought about him, but turned back around as the lesson started.

"Today, we will be talking about biology and the human cells," Mrs. Bellsor began. 

You had to admit inside you that Cai Xukun was different. But you refuse to get distracted from your studies and shake away the thought of liking him.

"So, we will be partnering up for this project! Choose your partners now!" the teacher finishes. 

You turn, hoping to partner with Becca, Diane or Charlotte, but Becca and Diane had paired off and Charlotte had gone with her other friend, Elaine. You feel scared and is about to ask if you could go in groups of three, but suddenly felt a tap on your shoulder. Turning, you saw that it was Cai Xukun.

 "D-Do you want to partner with me?" he said shyly, swiping his hair out of his eyes.
