You call your brother hoping that he'll understand, and be able to help you. You kneel on the ground as you wait for him, trying to stop the rush of memories from coming back. You stay in the same position for what seems like hours until someone comes to you. Is it your brother?

No. It's Becca.

"(Y/n)! Thanks for coming, but are you okay?" she says, watching your face.

"I'm fine so far," you muster.

"Okay, that's good. Diane just got out of the house and are waiting for news on the others..." Becca trails off.

Even more fear registers inside your heart as Becca grabs your hand, and you make your way over to Diane. Half-conscious, you speak with Diane, and you both reassure each other. A tear leaks out of the corner of her eye, and you take out a tissue and give it to her. You tell her that it's okay, that everything will be fine, and that she'll have a new beginning.

Someone touches your arm lightly, and you turn to find your brother. The same fear of yours is mirrored in his face. He's the only person that understands.

The importance of your brother is great, because he's the only family member you have right now, and he's also faced the same trauma as you. You realize this more than ever now, as he hugs you and you turn away from your friends. You two turn and sit on a small stone edge, facing the fire. The bright orange flames form a huge wall reaching high up to the clouds, and the house has barely anything left of it. Firefighters heist up their hose again and try their best to put out the scorching flames as the crowd goes still. The night has darkened already, so you can barely see anything and cling onto your brother while hoping for the best.

After sitting with your brother watching the fire for what seemed like all eternity, most of the fire has finally been put out. Your friends come over and thank you, and tell you the plan for now. Diane will stay at different houses until another living place is found for her and her family. She'll stay at Becca's house today and your house tomorrow, so you're free to go home now. You say goodbye to your friends, consoling Diane, and leave with your brother to your house.

Awake on your bed, you think of what the night has been. Diane's huge loss and your memories fluttering back. You're very tired from this night's events, and lie down and fall asleep quickly.
