Choice #1, Call Xukun

"Xukun? I need help. Can you come?"

"(y/n)? What are you doing? It's getting late..."
"Come to Diane's house..."

"What, what's wrong?"

"There's a fire..."
"I'll be there, hold up for me (y/n),"

Call Ended

Hold up for me, (y/n).

Those words echoed in your head as you put down your phone. He was coming.

Cai Xukun's POV

She needs my help. (y/n)-

I click on the address that she sent me and head for there. Then I remember. She told me that her grandmother died in a fire...

Then she must need my help even more.

I quicken my pace, running in the direction. Ahead I see a bright orange light. I realize that those are the flames, licking at the debris, already ripped apart. I scan the crowd, searching for her. I see a figure kneeling on the ground with their eyes closed. Is that her? I think. Slowing my run, I walk in front of the person and see (y/n)'s silky hair. Her eyes are closed, and she looks half-unconscious. I take her hand and pull her up gently.

"(y/n)! (y/n), can you hear me? (y/n)!" I say pleadingly.

She shakes her head slowly.

"I-It's me, Xukun" I continue.

Her shiny eyes open slowly and she sees me.

"Hello, (y/n)."

"Xukun...hi," she says happily.

Our faces are close together and I feel my cheeks getting hot. I pull away and we smile at each other for a second before reality sinks in.

"(y/n), are you okay?" I ask.

"Yeah-yeah I'm fine" she stutters.

I sigh with relief, but still grasp onto her hand. I need to make sure she's okay.

Your POV

It's that moment when you realize. His face shines in the moonlight as his hand still hangs onto yours. The genuine tone of concern with which he asks if you were okay. He cares about you, and you care about him too.

Facing back toward the fire, fighting your memories, you spoke.

"We need to find Diane and see if she's okay." you tell Kun.

He nods, and you race through the crowd, looking for your friends.

You find them huddled in a group, and still holding Xukun's hand, you go up to your friends.

"Are you guys okay??" you say, peering at Diane's ashen-blacked face.

"I-I'm fine. Thank you so much for coming (y/n). I...I know what you had to experience." she says slowly.
"It's fine, but has all of your family come out yet?" you ask, muscles tensing.

"Yeah, they're all out now," Diane replies, as your muscles relax again.

"That's good. Very good," you say, lowering your gaze.

Realizing your feelings, Kunkun squeezes your hand and your gaze rises a bit.

"I hope you're okay too (y/n)," Charlotte says.

You nod in thanks and manage a small smile.

A tear leaks out of the corner of Diane's eye suddenly, and you take out a tissue and give it to her. You tell her that it's okay, that everything will be fine, and that she'll have a new beginning.

You turn away to stare at the flames, still holding Kun's hand, as the firefighters continue to use their large hose to try and put them out.

You and Kun sit on the stone ledge in front of the house, still watching the fire. You get a bit cold and he lends you his big jacket, and you two sit there, almost cuddling, for a long time.

~time skip~

It's 1am now, and you're lying on your bed, still awake. The fire at Diane's house had been put out, and she was in your room, half asleep in a sleeping bag. She was to switch houses to stay in every night until some other accommodation could be made, and today, the first night, she was staying at your house. You wondered how Kun was, after sending you and Diane home. You would see him tomorrow at school, and couldn't wait. But you had to go to sleep! Glancing at Diane's still figure, you turn over and close your eyes.
