Trapped in the Past

Chapter 9

I faced the two doors to a big hall. I watched as Gwaine walked away. Wondering where the bandit attitude had gone to. I did not know what I was expecting when I entered the hall. I knew nothing about Uther Pendragon and all I knew about Arthur  was he was a big arse. Mean and mean. I could not let them kept waiting. So I entered. And closed the door behind me. The first comment I had gotten was," Since when Princess Katarina  being so sweet and close the door behind her? Usually she would just stomp in,"

"Enough Arthur..." Father said as he looked at Arthur who laughed.  I walked towards father and sat next to him, but facing Arthur. Arthur gave me his smirked.

Urgh, why must I go through this. It is exhausting!

I sighed. "Another Draco Malfoy.." I thought. Merlin were standing beside Arthur, serving him a drink. Father looked at me and smile.

"How are you my child?" Father asked. His voice sounded so serene, calm and concern.

"I am fine father.." I replied with a lie and a convincing smile. I knew nothing. Not even you father. I suck with history.

"Are you alright?  You seems odd...."

"Odd? How odd?" I asked calmly but deep down I was panicking.

This time, it was not father but busy body Arthur."Well, you have been a selfish, insensitive, bossy woman. Not only that, you are the most inconsiderate, rude and the most annoying person. Not to forget idiotic."

"Arthur Enough!" Father yelled. It was sad to even hear those mean words. I may not gone through that but it felt like mean Snape criticising me.

Delilah... please... whatever Arthur say is not true. I am NOT selfish, NOT insensitive  and maybe a LITTLE bossy. I am a very considerate, well mannered and a LITTLE ANNOYING person. Most importantly, i am NOT an idiot! Maybe a little bit. I didn't think this rewind time properly.

I looked at him, took a deep breath and stared at the food. I had the fork and spoon under my grip. "it's alright father. I understand I am not the very nice daughter and sister. I am truly sorry for that, "That was when Merlin and my eyes met.

It was rather quite. I did not looked away from my food at all until father spoke. "Katarina..." I looked up at him. "Tomorrow is your 19th birthday. what would you like to have for your birthday present?"

"It's not necessary father.... but I would like to take a stroll to the garden near the lake alone.." I replied. I need to release some stress!

"That is very dangerous. For you to walk alone.. Arthur, tomorrow you will accompany your sister.. " father ordered. Urgh. Why?

"No Father! I wont be protecting this little brat!" Arthur stood up and left. Father was going to yell at him but I stopped him.

"Father, I will be alright... I promise I wont go for too long.." I persuaded.

"Remember the time you said you want to take a walk? you run away!"

"I was stupid but this time, I promise that wont happen again..." I said although deep down I know I never did. Even if it happened, I would gladly stay lost.

"No.. I will make sure one of the knights follows you..."

"Father please...." I begged but it never worked.

"No!"

"Father......." I teared up just a little bit.

"Sire.. what if I accompany her... " Merlin spoke all of a sudden. I looked up at him. I felt safe if I were to go with him. After all, he is the greatest Wizard.

Father thought for a long while until he agreed. "Thank you Father... " I said to him. "Thank you Merlin. "I said to Merlin with a smile.

Before I could stand up straight, Father stopped me and said, " Do not go for too long... I have a surprise for you..." he smiled which made his wrinkles started to form.

I giggled , " It would not be a surprise if you tell me about it, father...." He chuckled.  After the dinner, I went back to my chambers. Somehow, I got lost. The castle was so big and there were knights every door, guarding them. When I thought back about what happened during dinner, it made me sad to know Arthur hates me but on the bright side, Merlin seems to be nicer to me.. or.. maybe it was just to make sure he is alone with me to kill me?

I arrived to my chambers to see Gwen. "hello Gwen..." I greeted.

"Hello My lady..." Gwen greeted back.

"Just call me Katarina... and... you don't have to help me with the bed.. I can managed and thank you..." I said. Gwen had the awkward smile and said her goodbye.
