Alexis' Flashback

I tried my best to keep my leg up on the bar while holding the position but I eventually I lost my balance and fell backwards on my butt.

"I can't do it dad, it's too hard." I said as I got up and dusted off my tutu.

"Your teacher told me you had to improve on this if you want to be successful, I don't want to ever hear anything is to hard for you. You are Alexis Ricci and you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it." My father said as he walked over and squatted in front of me.

"My leg isn't long enough for the bar and my  arms become sore from holding the position for too long." I pouted as I crossed my arms.

"Hey  amore, get that pout off your face." He placed her finger under my chin and turned my head so that I was looking at him.

"What's your name?"

"Alexis."

"Alexis what?"

"Alexis Ricci."

"And you are what?"

"Strong, Brave, and Kind hearted."

"And you can do?"

"Anything."

"So, get back on that bar and try again." My father said as he gave me an encouraging smile.

I walked  back over to the bar and got back into the position. I counted in my head the seconds that I was on the bar, ignoring the ache in my right arm. Once I had reached a full minute  I put my leg down and turned to my father with a huge grin on my face.

"I did it dad!" I jumped up and down.

"Certo che hai fatto principessa" {Of course you did princess."

I ran over to hug him and he lifted me up and spun me around.

"How about we go get some ice cream."

"Yes, please." I shouted as I threw my arms around his neck.

He walked towards the exit and we were both laughing.

"I love you dad."

"I love you too, principessa."

I leaned away from him and turned to look at him. "Forever?"

"Forever." He said as he rose his pinky finger so that I could wrap mine around it. "And always."

I'm not crying....you are.
