The girls were in the Maximoff's room, preparing Lillian for her training. "Here are the leggings." Nicole handed her some black leggings. "And here is one of Peter's shirts. Don't worry it's clean."
"Wanda, do I even want to know why you have Peter's shirt?" Wanda shrugged her shoulders. "I wanted to train in it. But we have our uniforms." Lillian nodded and change into the clothes. She looked at herself in the mirror. "You got this. It's just training. Nothing is going to happen." She felt weird about talking to herself.
She walked to the hallway. All the girls were standing there, waiting for her. Lillian frowned. "What are you doing?" She asked. "We're coming with you."
"You're what? No, it would be awkward if you're just sitting there looking at our training." The girls started laughing. "We are not coming inside, dummy." Jean explained. Lillian felt relieved. "But we will be in the dressing room, so if something goes wrong you just shout and we run in."
The girls split up in front of the door to the training room. "Don't forget, if anything happens just scream." Jean winked at her, leaving with the girls to the dressing room. Rose sat on the bench all nervous. "Don't worry, she'll be fine." Ororo hugged her. Rose was taken by surprise but hugged her back. "So what are we going to do?" Nicole asked. "Let's play truth or dare."
"You're here." Alex said. "Well, we do have training. Or should I leave?" Lillian asked. He chuckled. "No. So where do we start?"
"Well, I never trained or worked out. Like, seriously never. So I don't know. You tell me." Alex could sense she felt embarrassed. "That's okay. You know what? I think we should work on your combat skills. Without powers, just hand to hand combat." She frowned. "What is that good for?"
"Well if you get into a fight with a civilian and you don't want to use your powers, because it's good to know and I can see you don't want to start with powers yet. It can actually trigger you." She nodded. Alex started to explain how to actually fight.

"Okay Nicole, your turn. Truth or dare?" Wanda asked. Nicole knew that she would regret saying this. "Truth."
"What happened between you and Peter?" they said all at once. "Guys you're the worst. Dare!" Rose smirked. "Tell us what happened." Nicole rolled her eyes. "Alright. We talked and Peter asked me on a date." the girls started cheering. Not just because they were happy for their friend but also because she finally told them. "So Jean, we are back at you, truth or dare?" Nicole asked.
"I'm still worn-out from the last dare so truth." Jean massaged her arms answering the question. "Do you like Scott?" She scanned all of their faces. "Yes, I like him." Rose jumped from her seat. "I knew it!" the other girls laughed at her childish behavior. "Alright. Let's continue."
______________
"Good, very good. Wow, you're a quick learner." Alex applauded when Lillian blocked every punch. "Thank you. But there's still space for progress. You're a good teacher. I think I got more self-defense in the last half of the hour than from school." He chuckled. "There's always space for progress. Let's take a break shall we." He sits on the ground and Lillian did the same.
She massages her arms and legs while speaking. "If I won't be able to walk tomorrow, I will kill you." And once again she realized how awkward she sounded after she said that to him.
"Are you always this awkward when you talk?" She frowned. "Hey." She smacked Alex's arm. "Don't frown. It's like the tenth time for the past half hour, you're gonna have wrinkles."
"You're calling me old?" He smiled, trying not to laugh. "I could never." Lillian scanned his face, especially his cheeks. Yes, he has a handsome face and that jawline, don't even let me start.
But she noticed something else. "You have dimples." He instinctively covered his cheek with his hand. "It's cute. I like dimples and I don't have them. I guess none of our ancestors had dimples."
"Did you just call me cute?" He asked teasingly. "No, I called your dimples cute. It's not confirmed but I think that having dimples is a genetic mutation." Alex stood up. "Ask the professor. He's an expert in genetics." Lillian nodded. "Good to know."
Alex walked to one of the walls. "So, do you have a girlfriend?" Lillian asked to fill the awkward silence. She could hear him chuckle. "No, I don't exactly have girlfriends I just date." The girl was a little confused for a second but she got it eventually. "That sounds like a sad life." He turned to face her with a bucket in his hands. "Why do you think so?"
Lillian shrugged her shoulders. "Because there's always more in a relationship than sex." Alex pulled out one of those boxing mannequins. "Come here." She stood up and slowly walked towards him. "Tell me you, love expert. Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Uhm, I had. Before he broke up with me." She said stopping next to him. "What happened?" Lillian took a deep breath. "He found out that I'm a mutant. I know he sounds like a dick but he had a valid reason. I almost killed someone."
"It had to be a very toxic relationship." She gasped. "I beg your pardon." He did not even react to that.
"Here's a bucket filled with throwing stars. You can feel it. It's all metal. All you gotta do is you throw one of these things at the mannequin." Alex explained what she had to do. She straightened her hand and let one of the stars float. "Imagine it's... What is his name?" She answers without thinking. "Derek."
"Imagine it's Derek you're throwing a star at." Lillian rolled her eyes. "Maybe I should imagine it's you." He chuckled. Lillian moved her arm as she's holding the star in hand. The star hit the mannequin's head. "Nice. Now try to float all the weapons and hit the mannequin with just one."
She let the weapons float around her. Took one into her hand and threw it. Unfortunately, she lost control of all the things and they dropped to the floor. "Fuck."
"That's okay. Try again." She did and failed, again. She groaned in frustration. "Just stay calm and focus. No pressure, start whenever you want. Whenever you're ready. Okay?" She nodded.
The weapons were floating again she slowly took one to her side. "Just focus," Alex said quietly not wanting to disturb her. The star flew to the mannequin and the other weapons were shaking a little but didn't fall to the ground. As the star hit the mannequin Alex clapped his hands.
"Now that's progress." She shook her head. "No, it's bad. The star is barely touching it." As soon as she said that, the tiny weapon dropped to the ground. "It's okay. Things take time. Soon you're going to do this smoothly." Alex tried to calm her. "But what if I won't?" He strokes her arm. "You will. I'm sure of it. Now, what if I show you my tricks." She smiled and nodded.
"Okay stand a little aside." She got aside standing between Alex and the mannequin. Scanning the mannequin, she noticed something. "Look that was a pretty good shot." She straightened her arm, pointing at the mannequin. "Lillian look out!" Alex shouted but the damage was already done. Lillian tried to jump away but the blast already hit her arm. She hissed in pain and dropped to her knees.
She was sitting on the ground, pressing her palm to the wound. "Oh my God, are you okay? I'm so sorry! I should've made sure you were far enough." He wanted to help with the wound but Lillian scooted away from him. "No! Don't touch me!" She shouted. Alex's face fell and she immediately regretted her words.
"I'm sorry. It's nothing personal. It's just... I need cold pressure on this and you have a higher temperature yourself. You may want to cover your ears."
He pressed his palms against his ears as Lillian screamed. "OLIVIA!"
