As arranged, the boys met each other at the location. Shinso was there first, and while he waited for his date, he said a quick hello to the staff of the cat café — they knew him well, as he was a regular.

The door to the café opened, the golden bell jingling, and Monoma sauntered in. He is so attractive, Shinso thought, noting the stylishly casual outfit.

Monoma took in the surroundings of the shop. Cats. Cats everywhere. He took off his coat and hung it on the shop's provided hooks, next to a black one he assumed was Shinso's. "Hi," he greeted His stomach filled with a slight flutter at the sight of the taller boy. Why? he cursed himself.

"Hey, how are you?"

"Well, you?"

"Good thank you," Shinso replied. "Let's sit down?"

"Okay."

The couple sat down on plush couches low to the floor. The room was lit with a cosy yellow light, and it was warm inside compared to the early winter air outside.

A slim cat with tawny stripes tiptoed over to their seats and wound her tail around Monoma's legs, greeting him

A slim cat with tawny stripes tiptoed over to their seats and wound her tail around Monoma's legs, greeting him.

"Friendly," Monoma stated, slightly surprised about it. "I thought cats weren't so nice."

"Not always, but the ones here are pretty social," Shinso responded, picking up a fluffy black one with a splatter of white on its chest. He nuzzled his face into its thick neck fur.

Monoma smiled, watching the purple-haired boy with the cats — he obviously had a connection with the furry creatures. He looks cute like that, a forbidden thought popped into his head. He shook it away quickly. "Um, do you know their names?" Monoma asked, to get away from his thoughts.

"Yeah. This one is Puppet," he said of the black cat, "and that's Lily," he pointed to the tawny one.

"Do you come here often?"

Shinso nodded, still stroking Puppet. "I can't have cats at my apartment... but I'd love to adopt this one."

"Cute."

The lilac-haired boy looked up. "Hmm?"

"Cute, cute cat, I mean!" Monoma sputtered. Oh, god.

"Yes, they all are. Are you ready to order?"

"Mmhm."

Shinso flagged down a waitress in the flattering uniform of white button up shirt and mustard-yellow circle skirt. She wore her straight black hair in a hime cut.

"What can I get you two today?" She pulled out a notepad from her skirt pocket.

"I'll have a hot chocolate, please, and a croissant" Shinso said.

"Sure thing!" she blushed and batted her long eyelashes, obviously attracted to Shinso. Monoma felt an unexplainable surge of annoyance.

"I'll have a ginger milk tea latte," Monoma decided. "Thank you."

"Okay," she confirmed. "Be right back!"

She returned shortly, carrying the two drinks, obviously using her floating-type quirk. She set them on the table and lingered for a moment before disappearing.

Monoma took a sip of his drink, it was deliciously sweet with ginger and cinnamon. "Mmm."

Dipping a spoon into the cream on top of his hot chocolate, Shinso agreed. "The baristas here are amazing." He gently batted away a cat's paw from the cream.

After relishing in a few more sips, Monoma looked up when he heard a high-pitched giggle. The waitress girl from before was standing in the corner of the room accompanied by an aqua-haired girl with extra arms — a quirk definitely useful for a barista — and the two of them were not-so-subtly pointing at him and Shinso's table, touching their hair flirtily. The two bubbleheads approached them hesitantly.

"Uh, hi," the dupli-armed girl said to Shinso. "My friend wants to know if you're, like, single?"

The other girl giggled and tossed her hair over her shoulder. "Like, you're really hot."

Shinso rubbed the nape of his neck awkwardly. Whenever he came to the cat café alone, this girl always tried to strike up a conversation with him; now he knew why. "Uh, sorry. I'm flattered, but I'm not..."

Can't the idiots see we're on a date? Monoma thought. "He's my boyfriend, so back off," he snapped.

Both girls looked surprised, and blushed. "Ohmigod," they whispered to each other before running off, embarrassedly laughing.

"Thank you," Shinso grimaced.

"No worries."Monoma shrugged it off, but he stopped. He was here, on the topic. Should he just go for it? "Um." Oh, fuck. Here goes. He threw in the 'look' that Kendo had drilled into him.

"I was serious, though. Would you be my boyfriend?"

Shinso nearly dropped his croissant. Seriously? Neito Monoma wants me to be his boyfriend? "I'd love to!" Damn, did that sound too eager? Oh, whatever. Who cares. He was ecstatic.

 He was ecstatic
