The long-awaited Thursday came, and Monoma dialled Kendo's phone number before school.

"Mono-kun?" She yawned on the other line. "It's 6 in the morning... what do you want?"

"It's 6:30," he corrected. "Should I bring a change of clothes or just wear my uniform on the date?"

Kendo was wide awake now. "Aww, is little Monoma nervous?"

"Shut up!!!"

"Have you ever been on a date?" she pried.

"Um, yes... in middle school."

"Oh, really?" she said disbelievingly. "Where did you go?"

"... it was a study date," he admitted sheepishly.

"Bro, what?!" Tetsutetsu's voice filled Monoma's ears.

"The hell?" he muttered. "What're you doing?"

"Kendo called me over from her window." Tetsutetu was Kendo's neighbour; the two of them were almost inseparable.

There was some crackling noise as Kendo wrestled the phone out of Tetsutetsu's grip. "Yeah, and whenever he throws one of his frequent parties, I can't sleep. But who cares? It's your date today!"

"I'm seriously having second thoughts," Monoma grunted.

"NOOOO!" Tetsutetsu roared over the phone.

"Oww! I think you permanently broke my fucking eardrums," the blond whined.

"Bring a change of clothes, it shows you made an effort," Kendo ordered before hanging up on him.

"Thanks, bitch," he said to dead air.

A text message came through from Tetsutetsu on the trio's groupchat:

wear a miniskirt

On the chat, which was ironically named The Bigger Three, Kendo chimed in:

AND THIGH HIGH SOCKS

As if. Monoma let out a breathy scream. His friends were truly useless.

like hell I will, idiots

Wandering over to his closet, he selected a pair of artfully-ripped blue jeans and a semi-casual button-down shirt in periwinkle blue. He carefully folded them into his school bag and went downstairs to find some breakfast.

At lunch, Monoma sat at his usual spot in the cafeteria: the end of a long table with his two friends. Other class 1-B-ers were at the same table, engulfed in their own conversations.

"Big day, pretty boy," Kendo teased. "Where're you taking him?"

"Um..." Monoma faltered.

"Shit, don't tell me you haven't chosen a location!"
