The five of us have arrived at the field, somehow without disrupting Hoseok and Namjoon from their card games in the dining room. Yoongi said on the way here that he would tell Hoseok later when he wouldn't have to take him away from Namjoon, risking looking suspicious to the purple haired man.
"Okay, Hana, you ready?" Jimin smirks.
"Sure..." I stammer. "Who am I racing?"
"Your brother." Jimin's smirk grows wider as he wiggles his eyebrows cockily.
"Shit," I mutter, remembering the first time I'd heard of Jimin from Taehyung, before they even knew I was in the house. The time when Taehyung was complaining to his friends about how Jimin had come out of nowhere and taken the baseball bat from his hands...
There is no doubting how fast Jimin really is.
"I'll go easy on you little sis," Jimin pipes after a few seconds of silence.
"Please," I scoff, finding confidence out of God knows where. "I can handle you," I finish.
"If you say so," Jimin retorts, getting into position on a white line that had been painted on the grass.
I join him, standing a few feet away on the line. Taehyung stands in between us, with Yoongi on Jimin's other side and Jungkook on mine.
"3...2...1...half-" Taehyung counts.
"Just get on with it!" Yoongi shouts, impatiently.
"Okay okay. Go!"
As soon as I hear Taehyung's command, I run as fast as I think I can. Jimin, of course, speeds ahead of me. A mix of adrenaline and competitiveness kicks in and my legs push themselves to their limit. I feel myself run a little faster than before and I decide to dig deeper. I close my eyes, feeling the gentle breeze pick up as I search for inhuman speed.
I turn the corner of the field track that has been laid out, keeping my eyes on Jimin's back, only to see that I'm fast approaching him. I can hear the faint cheers that Jungkook is screaming for me as I run, but I block them out, closing my eyes again as I push myself once again. I keep them closed this time, in fear that the increasing breeze is just mother nature and not the fact that I have sped up enough to overtake Jimin.
It's not until I hear Taehyung's voice also cheering for me that I open my eyes, immediately looking over at them as I run, in fear of seeing Jimin still ahead of me. They are now all the way on the other side of the field and I'm approaching the third corner to make my way back round to them, where I started.
I finally look forward, screaming in excitement when I see that Jimin is no longer there. For some reason, this gives me an adrenaline boost and I find myself running faster than ever before as I speed towards the final corner.
I keep my eye on the finish line when it comes into view as a grin settles itself on my lips. The ribbon that Yoongi and Jungkook are holding out across the line collides with my body and I drag it with me as I slow down, waving my hands in the air in victory.
Once I've stopped, I turn around and face Jimin, who has now crossed the line as well and is slowly jogging towards me.
When he reaches me, he stops and places his hands on his knees, breathless. I slap my hand to his shoulder and flash him a feigned sympathetic look.
"Thanks for going easy on me," I say, faking a pout as I mock his words.
He chuckles, straightening up and wrapping an arm around my shoulders as we walk back to the others.
Taehyung is smiling widely and Yoongi is repeatedly tutting and rolling his eyes in disbelief. I look to Jungkook. His face shows a mixture of shock and amazement, as well as pride and something else that I can't quite decipher. He is staring directly at me.
Jungkook gulps so loudly that I hear it and looks away once he notices me staring back. Taehyung comes running over to me and tackles me into a hug, similar to how I did with him at my first training lesson, when it was just the two of us. I tear my eyes away from Jungkook, who is looking at the grass with an interest I can't discern, and I smile at Taehyung.
"That was amazing Hana!" Taehyung exclaims as he lets go of me.
"You're almost ready to show to Namjoon," Yoongi adds.
"Really?" I question, the disbelief evident in my tone.
"Hmmm," Taehyung thinks, "maybe, but you need strengthening now. There are techniques and theories you need to learn in order to control your abilities, but we'll need Namjoon and Jin to help with that."
"Abilities?" I question, noticing the plural.
Taehyung nods. "You're a triple threat, Hana."
****
a triple threat is usually a term used in the performing arts, for someone who is talented in acting, singing and dancing, but i decided to bend the rules a little and use it in the story just because being called a triple threat is a huge compliment and i think hana's character could us the confidence boost.
oh and dedicated to my best friend mesmerizedkookie because i miss her.
