One minute, Aayla felt as if she was on top of the world, she has a good job, a man whom she loves and who loves her, and an amazing group of friends who became nothing less than family. But life tends to hit you with that draw four card randomly, and it hit Aayla hard and fast, knocking her back into a bottomless pit of darkness and all she can hold onto is memories.

Small Excerpt:

"Remember when you told me you loved me?" Aayla whispered, tears flowing down her face freely.

"I don't want to think about the fucking past,"

"We had got on the wrong subway and I was tired and scared. We even got rained on." Ichirou let out an annoyed sigh. "I still have the pass we used that night. It was in my phone case." Aayla licked her lips as she tried to gather her next thought. "Remember when I told you that I'm a scaredy-cat? I can put on a front but I'm terrified of losing and going to the bottom?"

"No, Aayla," Ichirou responded, his eyes holding nothing but irritation.

"I do because that was when you told me you loved me and I told you I was afraid to let you in because I didn't want to get hurt if there was a point in time where you'd lose the love and I'd lose you."

"Well," he shrugged, nonchalantly. "You better figure something out because the love has been gone since you decided to do what you did." Aayla closed her eyes. "Just sign the fucking papers so we can get this done and over with."
