"Hey," Kevin greeted Aayla the moment he walked into the living room. "You're up early after all that partying y'all did last night."
"You're a clown." She snorted. There was no party to be partying. It was just Aayla, Triniti, and Namiko being extra as hell — like they usually were — as they caught up with each other. Mainly, everyone caught Aayla up on the things that had happened while she was gone. They did get a little loud at one point — again something that was usual for women who are catching up, but it didn't last long. So, no real party.
"Still watching the same movie as always, I see." Kevin continued to tease once he glanced at the tv, seeing Daddy Day Care playing before dropping down into his recliner.
"It's a good movie."
"A bunch of critics would have to disagree."
"Well, then they have terrible taste." They shared a laugh, which quickly ended as they turned their attention back to the screen, just in time for Aayla's favorite part. Eddie Murphy and Jeff Garlin's characters were dressed as a carrot and broccoli and were wrestling as the kids cheered them on. They watched in silence — with occasional giggles from Aayla — until the scene moved on and Kevin spoke up.
"How's it feel to wake up free?" Aayla sighed dramatically.
"Amazing, especially considering the fact that I was able to sleep in a real bed and wake up to shower with actual hot water." She smirked. "I don't think that I realized how good I had things until I was in there."
"No, I'm sure you did know. You just appreciate it more now."
"I guess," Aayla mumbled before she looked at Kevin again. "Thank you again for letting me stay here. I promise as soon as I get on my feet, I'll be out of y'all hair." Kevin threw his head back and scoffed.
"Aayla, you know you are more than welcome here, for whatever, whenever, and how long ever. You're family. Shit, you don't even have to leave. Triniti wouldn't mind. Neither would I honestly."
"You say that now. But wait till the baby gets here. You'll be singing a different tune." Aayla teased causing Kevin to laugh and shake his head.
"Maybe, maybe not. Me and little peanut in there are going to be the bestest of buddies, ain't that right, peanut?" Kevin reached out to touch Aayla's stomach and as if the baby felt his touch, they kicked, making both Aayla and Kevin look at each other with wide grins. "See? They love me already." He cooed, glancing back down at Aayla's stomach in astonishment.
"They better. You are their godfather." Kevin's eyes jumped up to meet Aayla's.
"What?"
"Yeah, Kev. You are the best candidate for that position. It's only right for me to choose you." Aayla responded in a duh tone while looking back at the tv.
"I feel like I was the only candidate." Aayla chuckled under her breath but kept her eyes forward. "But I'm honored to be the godfather. I get to work on my Michael Corleone impression."
