"Richards," a CO called out, dragging Aayla's attention from Wendy. The man beckoned for the woman to go over to where he stood. Aayla stood reluctantly then shuffled to the CO, who was talking to another inmate about whatever until he saw Aayla approach him from the corner of his eye.
"Yeah?" Aayla asked.
"You got a visitor." Aayla wanted to ask who it was, but she felt as though the CO didn't know and that even if they did, they wouldn't answer her — Aayla learned the hard way that COs were just another form of bullies. She just nodded and followed the instructions she was given all whilst her stomach knotted anxiously.
A few minutes after going through the maze of the jail hallways, they made it to a door with a window, which showed some inmates, along with civilians, talking amongst themselves. In a few seconds, she knew this would be her and whoever came to visit her. The only real question is, who was it?
The door was then opened, with the CO quickly shoving Aayla inside of it, directing her to a desk where yet another CO sat, scribbling on some paper. "Aye," the CO who led Aayla in said, catching the attention of the other. "Richards has a visitor."
The CO who sat at the desk blew out a huge bubble of bubble gum, which loudly popped seconds later while she scanned the list beside the paper she was scribbling on and hummed. "Table 14." She said, followed by a series of loud popping of her gum. Aayla wanted to say something about it, but kept her mouth shut, another thing she's learned since being inside of these steel walls. She's definitely been learning a lot.
"It's over in the corner over there." The CO continued, pointing one of her freshly manicured nails in the direction. "There's a sign above it too so you won't miss it." Aayla nodded, thanking both COs quickly before spinning on her heels and heading in the direction they pointed her to, her eyes finding the table number quickly. Her eyes then fell onto the table and she almost stumbled once she saw who it was.
Both women looked at each other with tear-filled eyes before Aayla jogged the rest of the way, practically jumping in her arms. "Aayla," the woman screeched, laughing slightly as she regained her balance. Aayla ignored her comment, burying her face into her neck with a sob.
"Richards!" Aayla pulled away quickly, looking back towards the CO, still popping her gum. "No touching."
"I'm sorry," she said, holding her hands up quickly before turning back to her visitor again, laughing slightly. "Oh my gosh, I can't believe you're really here."
"I can't believe you're really here." Aayla chuckled, motioning for her to have a seat, which she did and Aayla quickly followed. "Grandma always used to think it'd be me in here, not you."
"I didn't think I'd be in here either." Aayla wipedt her face with the back of her hands and laughed. "I really missed you, Trin."
"I missed you too, baby girl. It just feels so weird not to be able to call you when I want to."
