"I know, granny." Aayla spoke into the phone softly while, stirring the greens that boiled in the pot gently. Aayla had called to check up on her and what was meant to be a short call, turned into a three hour long conversation and she didn't mind it. She always loved talking to her grandmother as the conversations always taught her something new and she appreciated every little moment. It also gave her a chance to get her mind off of what was really bothering her at the time being. Her brain was hurting with every thought.
"Do you really know or are you just saying that to shut me up?" The older woman teased, causing Aayla to laugh.
"I really know. You tell this story enough for me to know." She teased.
"Uh huh. You better know. It should be instilled in your brain by now. It should be second nature." She shouted, her thick Caribbean accent coming through midway through her exclamation. Aayla laughed again, just as she heard the front door open, signaling her husband's arrival.
"Alright granny, imma let you go now. Ichirou's home and it's time for dinner."
"Okay, baby. Tell him I said hi and I love him."
"I will."
"Okay, love you, bye." Aayla repeated the phrase and hung up as Ichirou snuck behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Hey," he whispered, kissing her shoulder.
"Hey, how was work?" Ichirou hummed, resting his chin where he just placed a kiss.
"You weren't there so it was pretty boring." He teased. Aayla smirked, patting his head gently before pushing her hips back to get him to move, which he did, but only to follow close behind her as she grabbed the plates and some glasses.
"You say that every day."
"And I mean it every single time." Was his reply, he had finally given up the chase and was leaning against the counter, watching her as she plated their meals. "How was your day?" Aayla shrugged, placing down the plate she just filled with food before picking up the next.
"Uneventful." She murmured, her mind screaming for her to speak up about the events this morning that had been bothering her all day. But she didn't, ignoring the nagging feeling inside her mind, telling her to tell him about it, especially since it was bothering her a lot more than she wanted to put off.
"Are you sure? Cause my mom said you seemed off all day." Aayla cursed, hating that his whole family knew her inside and out. Aayla looked over at her shoulder to her husband, finding his eyes on her already, studying her silently. Aayla sighed, placing the plates onto the counter before turning her body so it was facing his before she crossed her arms.
"I fucked up today."
"What do you mean? Like you cheated on me or something?" Aayla frowned, shaking her head.
